    Hello.

I am looking to get a new racket, because the racket I use now, the 'Carlton Powerblade 2010' is a very heavy racket and does not suit me at all. My smashes are not very powerful and I do no think I can use this racket properly.

For my personal preference, I want to get a new racket that is light (no more than 90g strung) but will still enable me to smash well. When i used my friends racket (I'm not sure what it was), which is really light, has really tense strings and is a bit head heavy, I smashed quite well.

I would like to get a racket which is not head heavy because i think i would play better with a head light racket. I think that a stiff shaft is also to my preference.

If you can please help me and give me a few tips about which racket would best suit me, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

The Yonex Nanospeeds are stiff and not head heavy (and expensive).
A good bargain might be a SOTX Woven 8a if you can find one. It's an good all-round racket that isn't extreme in weight, balance, or stiffness.

I was looking at the Yonex Arcsaber Z-Slash on ebay fro around $35.00. I do not think it is a genuine racquet but the seller seems to be genuine and trustworthy.

this racket sounds really good, but what is your opinion. Thanks.

You cannot get a genuine late-model racket for $35. :(

The best thing you can say about a fake is that the colours might be the same as the racket you really want. That is fine for some folks. But wouldn't you rather get your money's worth?

The best thing is to lay hands on your desired racket at a shop in your area, or from a friend. Barring that you should stick to reputable dealers online.

Personally I've been pleased with mybadmintonstore and puppysports. There are lots of pages on BC on various other shops.

if you are talking about fake racket, then there is nothing to talk about and you are wasting our time.

fake racket only looks like real ones on the appearance. you will get zero similarities in performance and in specification. you are not buying a handbag. for rackets, look is not important, the performance is. if you buy a fake racket you are just fooling yourself.

a US$35 z-slash is guaranteed to be fake. such fakes can be bought in China for US$10

absolutely nothing. i have a real and a fake ARC10 and i have made the comparison.

it will look like the real thing. if you are a poser and don't care about performance, then get it.

otherwise, you are wasting your money. these fake rackets do not last as they are made from the cheapest carbon fiber.

browse around the buy and sell section on the site? if you're looking for a light racket.. nanospeed or something even balance would be the way to go.

I had mentioned the SOTX Woven 8 which is a fine all-rounder. The price is reasonable because it is getting older. (If you want prettier paint for extra money you can get the same racket in burgundy: the Woven 8a)
Here is a very reputable site where you can get it.
    http://www.mybadmintonstore.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=25_26_119&products_id=657

Here is another site where you can get more choices of SOTX at reasonable prices.
    http://www.puppysports.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=detail&id=74031&product=807

If you want something head-lighter than the Woven 8, then try the Woven 5.
A little flexier is the Woven 6.
One of my faves is the Woven 2 which is a little head-heavier.

I'm only mentioning SOTX as one of the alternatives to Yonex for good quality at lower price. But there is lots out there. Perhaps find out what it is that your friend had that you liked so much. There is no better judge than your own hands.:)

I know it's not much AT ALL, but probably only $50.

    Thanks Fidget.
