There are not much differences between European and Asian Shuttles, those superpowers are not lack in term of Badminton skills, physical, technics, understanding etc...
But Asians are obviously dominating through out the Badminton history. What are the main reasons behind this phenomenal of Asian invasion. Please share...

BWF World Rankings tell the story

    .
In terms of achievements, only Denmark is able match up with Asian top 4 Badminton nations, namely China, Korea, Indonesia and Malaysia.

    Have a read of our BWF World Rankings, found located at;

Badminton players are professionals i.e. to make money to feed themselves and their family. Simply put, badminton does not pay to play professionally in Europe and N. America. Tracey Hallem, when she was ranked WR8 had to get sponsor for a flight to play WC and no coach with her. Mana boleh menang? And Asian players have coach or coaches, nutrionist, massage therapist, even cook (WC in India), plane and hotels book and paid for, huge pay check from govt for WR, matching $$$ for SS winnings, endorsement, reward for major winning in gold, silver ,bronze and $$$ gifts from private citizens...badminton is surely a backyard sport in this part of the world.
There is no govt funding, no quality training partners, expenses (coaching fee, court fee, even the birds are pricy here, etc) are higher than the rewards or winnings from badminton, and Asian domination does not help...so better of play soccer in Europe and South America, football, ice hockey, baseball, basketball in North America where the paycheck is huge...even swimming, darts, curling, beach volleyball, pole dancing (is this a sport?):D:p;) pays more than badminton where most players are guaranteed to get some form of joint injury when the players retire and unless the name is PG, pro players need a second job when their services to their nation are no longer welcomed.

true, once it is popular everything goes

even your underwear will be paid.

the first player i admire most was morten frost,

he must have tons of passion for baddy.

in fact team sports is more popular until today in europe or america

and baddy, sad to say, will continue to be the same.

    unless some magic happens. lol

btw, i wonder what is their past time for sports after when they are 30 - 35 yr old?

for team sport i don't think they continue after they reach that age.

maybe pot bellie sports, poker, golf, bowling, fishing, darts...

Yes, I believe the techniques are different, based on the opinion of a former singles player. Asian players maybe smaller and shorter and less muscularly built, but how do you explain that the world's most powerful and/or most deceptive smashes are Asians?

I think it's just a cycle. Dominating countries changes periodically. European (mainly Denmark) used to dominate at one time with Peter Gade in late 90's, and Denmark MD JE/ML was the power house in 2006 I believe. It's only a matter of time that there'll be a raising star from the European countries.

But I think that other countries are suffering is do to gene pool. In Asia, there's many top level shuttlers thus give great sparing partner, or motivation to to surpass.

Denmark has always been strong in badminton but it has never won the Thomas Cup even once. Only three countries, China, Malaysia, and Indonesia have won it since its inception in the 1940s. Other great badminton countries that have faded from the scene are the US and to some extent India but the latter is making a comeback.

if we talk about thomas cup or uber cup, its a team event,

a team must consists of many world class beater inside.

as for the european i think they will not even come close to this,

one or two players emerged from these countries maybe possible

definitely not for a team event.

even other asian countries like india or even malaysia finds it hard year after year.

the domination by china is too strong for many year to come followed by indonesia.

as for malaysia who has won many times in the past is currently facing very strong contender like korea and japan.

I think the main difference lie in the training system? China can produce so many world class players because China has a very strict and systematic training system for their players. Maybe Europe countries can import more coaches from Asia ?

for me, an asian student in europe, the main thing is the mentality and view of badminton...most asian countries take so seriously even make baddy as 2nd most popular sport after football and become a LIFESTYLE and addiction...
european baddy sportmen play for me personally very rigid...less smoothness and flair...it all about technical except denmark...
if a beginner want to start playing here in europe they MUST learn the techniqeus first unlike in asian they just play to hit the birdie with flair, and then learn the theniques along the way...
but who knows, if the supreme power of badminton will change the course....
