Ask them to watch this game everyday if they want to become better and world class players. Else forget it.

Jeremy: Mixed pair were overrated
PETALING JAYA: There has been a lot of hype on mixed doubles pair Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying but their performances in the Sudirman Cup world mixed team championships certainly showed that they are just not there yet.
And national coach Jeremy Gan made a frank admission that the duo had been overrated.
“They have the potential to become world beaters but for now, they need to train harder to add more quality in their game,” he said.
Not there yet: Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying failed to lived up to expectations at the Sudirman Cup.
And he has decided against sending Peng Soon-Liu Ying to compete in two Super Series Open tournaments next month – in Singapore and Indonesia – so that they can spend more time polishing on their acts for the challenge in the world championships in London from Aug 8-14.
“The expectations are higher than what Peng Soon-Liu Ying can actually perform. But it is not their fault. They are the country’s top mixed pair and naturally, good results are expected from them,” said Jeremy.
“Peng Soon-Liu Ying have improved but we have to accept the fact that they are still not in the same class as the big guns of the game. They have done well to place themselves among the chasing pack and that is a good start.”
Jeremy added that the performances of Peng Soon-Liu Ying in the Sudirman Cup in Qingdao indicated a lack of quality and stability in their game. They lost the matches in both the group ties against Russia and Indonesia and were not fielded in the quarter-finals against South Korea.
“It was their first major team event and they did not perform up to the mark. They lost out on tactical play against the Russians.
“They are also quite inconsistent but we can work on that,” he said.
A lot was expected from the world No. 17 ranked pair since they became the first Malaysians to win an international mixed doubles title at the Asian Championships (ABC) last year.
This year, they pulled off several upsets en route to emerging as the runners-up in the recent Malaysia Grand Prix Gold in Alor Setar.
Jeremy added that Peng Soon-Liu Ying needed more time to get among the stars in the game.
“They are still young and I am sure that they are determined to overcome the gap to be considered among the elitist in the world of mixed doubles,” he said.
For now, Jeremy hoped that Peng Soon’s condition would get better after coming down with a sore back in the Sudirman Cup.
“I will assess his condition before deciding whether they should go for the Thailand Grand Prix Gold (June 7-12),” he said.
“After the Thai meet, I am not sending them out for any tournaments.
“We will have a longer time in training to prepare for the world championships.”

"Overrated" is a very conservative word... Ah Ying simply doesn't have what it takes to be a top XD player... look at Ma Jin... she is lightning fast at the net with speed and power... solid defense... Ah Soon's smashes are too weak... can't kill off opponents...
To be fair, traditionally, we have NEVER produce any strong XD pair...
