As everyone know, the case is taking more and more importance worlDwide.. Today some hackers (Anon Operation group, which leads the Operation ayback) got down Visa.com, Mastercard.com.. American nationalists try to get a Denial Of Service on Wikileaks website, and Mr Dessange is in jail. Are we gonna live an electronic war or something ? What's your point of view ?
What kind of world are we in? Wikileaks exposed thousands of confidential and put thousands of people's lives in danger. And they got so many people supporting them. The first image that came to my mind is the opening scenes of the Kung Fu Hustle movie.
haha you made me laugh at first... and then I checked out your location. USA. so let me tell you that your government is raping the freedom of speech, which is supposed to be part of your constitution you being manipulized..
Freedom of speech means they can post anything they want. But hacking into the US government network to get those information which is illegal.
It is preposterous to say Mr. Assange was apprehended for *** issues rather than the true issue at hand. Trying to suppress real cause for arrest. Bwahahahaha! Like the Wilson/Plame issue...
Many have taken Democracy to mean you have the "freedom" to do anything without being responsible for the consequences. Big and powerful countries often have the leverage to impose their "strength" and views on less powerful, poorer individuals and developing countries and escape from consequences, like what have been revealed in WikiLeaks. So now we have the world's most powerful country crying foul of someone who seems to be exercising "democracy" by exposing the 'secrets" and is trying hard to have him punished at all cost. Who is right and who is wrong? Where is the democracy? Can powerful countries do no wrong as well?
This is human nature and nothing will change it, democracy or autocracy: power is the source of everything; it sets the rules and it judges who is right or who is wrong. Democracy is just one of many means to achieve power. Now we have an emerging new power and the current power with its traditional allies are finding it difficult to adjust and adapt to great changes. But the cycle will repeat itself-what goes up will come down.
Are you sure the resource is from hacking? The US government might be ruled to the core by some questionable people but there will always be someone with a conscience who have the balls enough to try to let people know. And yeah, I find the irony about the US government clamping down on free speech to be quite funny too. - Benjamin Franklin -
Interesting to see so much contradiction on the constitution. IMO it should be healthy to expose wrong doings. Being a public figure, they should know that this is coming. So, is this considered a misuse of power? Also, in sg. a professor said, this this will grow the resentment and the wiki guy will be getting more support if a govt tries too hard to shut him down. Equivalent to Mandela. Hold on to your seats people. We shall be able to see more dirt coming out. My believe is the GS saga is much bigger than this. See the Jesse Ventura youtube.
I have a feeling that this thread will be closed soon lol.. I guess this wiki case with Julian Assange might be similar with how North Korea got rid of all the high-ranked officials when Kim Il Sung got replaced with Kim Jung Il.. Get rid of all the powerful people who might overthrow the leader.. do that by accusing them of random crimes they might've never done. I'm doubting that Assange actually raped people o.o That's what I think too.
yes, this thread has the potential of being locked in the future if discussion start being uncivil. but so far, i think it is still alright.
so far its the media that publish or interpret them. Good for them to categorise into countries to make it easier to understand. My bet is North Korea is going to be the scape goat. I felt as if something is brewing around the country. USA, Korea and Japan is teaming up. China is standing alone. Interesting developments.
The latest is that Russia is now asking NATO for an explanation on why NATO was planning, behind Russia's back, to put in place an alliance plan to protect the Baltic countries from Russia and at the same time trying to seek agreement with Russia on a joint partnership. This is going to make Russia distrust NATO, which is the military and defence side of Europe with the US as its leader. A distrusting Russia and now China against the west and the US will not be good for the world.
..like they say, what comes around goes around...Mr. Assange might have his "good" or "bad" intention (however one wants to interpret it) and his 15 or so minutes of fame (or infamy), but he better watch his back.. As for the leaks, they're partly exposed by the own people who should be keeping them secret (meaning partly the U.S.' or whichever countries' fault/own personnel for leaking them)..and really, there's nothing surprising about much if not all of them..the world spins and goes on..
What do you chaps think about nominating Assange for the Nobel Peace prize? Don't you think what he has done has given some true meaning to the word "transparency" ? By revealing all the back stabbing that powerful nations indulge in they are now less likely to do harm to others.
