Lin Dan has never been shy
Lin Dan has never been shy.
Here is an interview with Lin Dan (back in August 2008);
BADMINTON star Lin Dan has never been shy of talking up his achievements and it was no different after his Olympic gold medal, describing himself yesterday as an “outstanding sportsman”.
Lin Dan, as much a celebrity as a sportsman due to his love match with fellow world number one Xie Xingfang, crushed Malaysia’s second seed Lee Chong Wei in the men’s final with a superb display of power and skill.
In a blog for the China Daily newspaper, he recounted the match, and ruled out retirement.
“Since the last Olympic Games in Athens, I have been dreaming of winning a gold medal. Now I have realised my wish, which is an acknowledgement of my actual strength,” he said.
“This year, I have confronted a lot of adversity and endured a lot of pressure. However, the gold medal has confirmed the fact that I am an outstanding sportsman.”
Xingfang, a two-time world champion who lost in the final to team-mate Zhang Ning, hinted before the Games of retirement after Beijing, saying she wanted a life with Lin Dan other than training and competition.
But Super Dan has vowed to keep going.
“Frankly speaking, I haven’t thought much about my future plans. I believe I will be serious-minded about my choices. What I want most is a good rest at the moment.
“One thing I’m definitely sure about is that I will keep playing, just like Taufik Hidayat (referring to his Indonesian arch-rival, who won the 2004 Athens Olympic title).
“I will go for more medals, at the Asian Games (in Guangzhou in 2010) and at all kinds of world championships. I am still young, just 25. What’s more, I will keep on fighting for a lot of fans supporting me.
“Being a champion means a new epoch for me. I, together with my colleagues and coaches, will make efforts to obtain even greater achievements. Before the match, in fact, I had already set this goal for myself.”

Here's a lovely story I found on a Wordpress site, about the love story of Xie Xin Fang and Lin Dan.
Here are some excerpts:
...Tall and beautiful, Xie became the Snow White in the heart of Lin Dan, and he tried to please her and get chances to chat with her after the training sessions. He did not go beyond that.
...Before the Spring Festival in 2004, Lin finally mustered the courage and sent Xie Xingfang a text message – I LOVE YOU. In fact, Xie Xingfang had already realized Lin Dan was fond of her.
...February 14, 2006, Lin and Xie were with the national badminton teams at a training camp in Jinjiang. The teams had their rules – not going out of the training camp. Xie thought she would spend the Valentine’s Day without flowers...

It's so nice if see LD with his beloved wife become a sweet guy. But, it's very sicken if see him become an actor on court.
