I'm a fan of softer strings and slightly lower tensions on the MX80, because it's just so stiff and rigid. Honestly, I'm so enraptured with Ultimax at the moment, I'd be trying it on the 80 at about 25lbs (If I still had one). I reckon it would be an awesome combo.

I restrung mine with bg65@28lbs two months ago and now I reckon there's less than 23lbs of tension left in it. Previously I had bg80@26lbs - snapped in a week and ngy98@26lbs - felt very dull and woody. Since I got the mx70 strung at 25lbs with bg66UM (by Centralsports) I began to suspect that the stringer I use is incompetent. Unfortunately there's not even an aproximate way to check if a striger does a good job - if they meet the requested tension.
The only time I've experienced the 80 at trustable high tension was after ordering it with ngy98@26lbs... it felt very rigid, so I agree with 24-25lbs optimal tension.

i have strung mine over the weekend with new ZM62 using the official Victor 80 holes pattern.
tension is 28lbs mains and 28lbs outer cross, 30lbs inner cross as dictated by the official pattern.
the sound is incredible. i will have a chance to play with it today.

I will be trying out a demo MX80 for the next couple of days, let's see how it goes! Strung with VS-800 () at unknown tension, forgot to ask..

MX80 is definitely a nice racket. But the combination of super stiff shaft and higher-than-preferred string tension is quite tiring for me. Let's see how tomorrow fares.

For those who have experienced shoulder or elbow pain using MX80 could try MX60. It's quite a good
racket. First time using, timing is off, after a couple of sessions the racket surprises me, it
looks like that you can borrow some power from the racket. Using MX 80, you have to use your own
power. The most important thing, using MX60, the pain is gone. MX80 is still the best racket so far
that I've ever used, but the pain is too hard for me, often it is hard to even shampooing my self
after playing badminton. Sigh, maybe I'm just getting too old to play badminton.

^^ Don't worry, I've also gone from an mx80 to mx70 because it was too stiff for my shoulder. But that directness and immediacy of the extra stiff shaft was so addictive!

Could anyone offer up a comparison between the MX80 and the Arc8DX? They seem to be pretty similar - extra stiff, just barely head heavy. I didn't have enough time with the MX80 to compare it myself.

I have to agree that MX60 is playing better than MX80. I think it has far more to offer and does it with ease.
Perhaps there is an optimal tension with MX80 or you just need to find the right combination of string and tension to get the best from it. However, I tested MX80 with 850 string at 25lbs and it really didn't inspire me at all. It's still a good racquet but wasn't pushing for my top 10. However, MX60 easily found a place in my top 10.

The MX80 is super stiff, and I find that with strings below 27lbs, rackets of that stiffness just aren't that special as the string numbs the incredible direct feeling. It's still very direct, and has great touch in every shot, but the higher the tension, the more you can really feel the shuttle when you make contact...also, higher tension means you'll need a faster swing for most shots, so you'll get more out of the stiff shaft.
I haven't had a whole lot of experience with the Arc8DX, but when I played with a friend's in training, it felt noticeably softer than the MX80. The feeling is also a bit more muted, although that was partly due to the soft string.
