I was wondering which weight class is better for smashing, and does anyone know which one was used in the 421km smash?

the most important is which one u're comfortable with...u can get better result with 3U compared to 2U (slightly heavier than former) if it fits u well...

Zslash is not an easy racket to get use to. the smaller head will definitely need time to adjust. I tried a couple Zslash from friends (all 3U) they are definitely heavier than most yonex 3Us.

would the smash on the 2U be more powerful than that of a 3U? or would it be slower due to the excess weight?

yes it would be harder but can u swing and flex the shaft due to the excess weight? will the shuttle's contact with the sweet spot be compromised due to the weight? *assuming you're comfortable with your strings and string tension*
