. Good breathing method/technique for Badminton players So far, we haven't have a thread to talk about good breathing method/technique for Badminton players. Let us start one now. I have been teaching a 'good' breathing technique/method for many of my trainees. But before I talk about my method, I would wish to listen to our BCers about various good breathing methods and/or techniques. .
interesting to hear what breathing technique you mean i've always believed that you have to inhale just before any power shot like smashes. on exertion of force, i don't think it matters whether you hold your breath or exhale.
We need to exhale whenever we execute a shot . Disagree. We need to exhale whenever we execute a shot. You can experiment on it at your next Badminton game. Try breathing in when you execute a stroke/shot. .
1. In order to exhale during the shot, you'll need to inhale just before... which was what I mentioned. 2. However, often times, eg. backhand defending from smashes, quick drives, there is not enough time to exhale, much less think of exhaling. 3. Hence, that's why i mentioned that it's only important in power strokes like smashes and corner to corner cross court clears, when you have the luxury of time to coordinate your inspiration and expiration with your stroke.
While I fully understand that you meant, I like the alternate meaning better... Inspiration: I want to hit there... Expiration: Oops.. gone long.
Exhale is the way to go!! 100% right. That is why we always hear players screaming whenever they execute a power shot e.g a full smash be it in badminton or tennis. How could one inhale and scream at the same time?? I thought this is a well known technique to many but I was wrong.
Back to the topic, I exhale on every shot. This includes smash retrieval. Even immediately after the exhale phase, there is still sufficient air to exhale more. However, visor is also correct that I inhale more during the setup for a smash or when there is sufficient time.
Will it improve my game ? . No, it won't improve your game. It can only improve your stamina to last longer when playing Badminton. .
Yo freak... u owe us a lot of mulla mate... so many free tips.. lol. remember to breathe please... suck it in when you are in trouble...
It's about how best to breathe in or out during our whole rally at footwork . It's unfortunate that when you were in Melbourne, Australia, we didn't have enough time to talk more about Badminton technique as we see it as coaches. Inform me when you will be in Melbourne next. Here, I am talking about 'Good breathing method/technique for Badminton players'. It's about how best to breathe in or out during the whole rally during our footwork (not just when we hit the shuttlecock). We have found that most BCers agreed that it's best to exhale when hitting the shuttlecock (so far). .
How about during the Doubles BH short serve? what about when doing a doubles backhand short serve? particularly when the start of the forward movement until the impact to shuttle? does holding your breathe here contribute to having a more accurate serve? usually i inhale during the backswing and hold my breathe at the start until impact. any comments? i think the exhale technique is very good for almost all strokes particularly power strokes.
yes, inhale and hold would be good for that... improves accuracy and consistency by strengthening the body core to provide a solid foundation this is taught in shooting with cameras, guns, archery, darts, etc.
good to know that this is fine. Doing a serve in doubles is like a ritual to me, relax while positioning, look at my partner at the back if he's ready, inhale while drawing back the racket then hold breathe and hit the shuttle then ready (ready by lee jae bok).
able to increase my stamina is good enuf ! oh mor. power yea! this forum rocks...! so many tips xD by the way...what's a mulla o.o?
thinking more about that power shot, i'm thinking that a controlled exhalation, done not with a completely open airway but with a partially closed airway against some resistance and a strained throat... that would be more effective than a full exhalation thru a completely open airway.
hey chris, i thought some air inside our lung will just do us some good to make us lighter as in water so that we have extra inches easy jump just joking of course personally i like to shout and that's exhale same as yours i guess, in fact shout goes together with an exhale and it create more terror in court
Exhaling also helps the body relax, enabling the player to produce more power ('cause being stiff actually does the opposite). Also, by exhaling, you release a lot of carbon oxyde which actually helps your stamina.
