Almost no racquet from Yonex has had my attention since the At700Ltd. If this racquet is as similar to my dragons, I'll buy a bunch of them. Hopefully they'll feel more like the AT700 than the AT900P

OK so I decided to treat myself and I've splurged on a VT80!
I have it in my hands now. I won't be able to play with it until tomorrow night though. However these are my initial impressions from swinging it in my dining room - taking care not to hit any vases!
It's a 3U G4 - all my other rackets are 3U G3. I think the G4 grip makes it feel strangely smaller over all.
Visuals:
Striking. The graphics are very nice indeed and the racket looks dangerous straight off. I think the design also makes it look strangely sleek.
Compared to AT700 (I own one)
About the same head-heaviness but less stiff.
Swing speed at maximum acceleration is much faster than the AT700. Just messing about with some more general push, lift and back-hand body defence shots I got the impression that the VT80 was a lot swifter. It also makes less noise.
I think it's air resistance is much lower than the AT700. As a result there is a perception of more force behind the swing with the VT80.
Edit: the main advantage of the VT80 might not so much be swing speed as reduced fatigue. But we will have to see.
Compared to the ARC10 (I own it, and it's my primary racket)
Much head heavier than the ARC10 but similar stiffness
Swing speed at maximum acceleration is a bit slower. Just messing about with some more general push, lift and back-hand body defence shots the VT80 feels a touch slower but because of the head heaviness there's more of a perception of force.
I think the similar stiffness means that the VT80 should be a fair bit more powerful.
Conclusions
It feels very nice but I won't know how it plays till I actualy play with it!
I am happy to try and answer any questions but will post a review either tomorrow night (GMT) or Wednesday morning.Last edited by Cattex; 03-28-2011 at 03:52 PM.

I would guess, you'll prefer AT700 in the end (perhaps after 10-20 hours of court time later)!

Don't be, just put the hours on court and let us all know how it stacks up with your trusty AT700. I doubt there'll be another AT700-like racquet, not even LiNing N90!
