Hi guys, Recently a friend bought a VICTOR MACHINE C-7031. After stringing it looks like the racket has come out a bit round. Why is that? Is it because im not tightening the 4 head holders enough? or mounted incorrectly? north and south poles incorrect? please let me know! ...also is it better do have a long shape racket? Thanks!
and what stringing method did you use? 2 knot? 4 knot? cross top-down or bottom-up? it is easier for us to answer your question if you give us more information.
haha wow did not know that i need to give more info =P! 26lbs armotec 900 technique i used a 2 piece stringing method 4 knots. cross top-down. does this help you guys out more? thanks! also with tension..am i supose to go 2 higher on the crosses?
Racket has come out a bit round . I suspect that your mains have pulled the frame with greater tension than the crosses, therefore your racket-head becomes rounded. If you get a more elongated racket-head, then the reverse has happened; that is the crosses have pulled the frame with greater tension than the mains. .
oh! it is 4 point i think....and then also has the north and south pole. does that make it a 6 point support haha?

Information on the VICTOR MACHINE C-7031 quoted by OP states that it's 6 point support. There are still chances that the stringer didn't tighten the supports properly or he removed (and didn't use) the side supports to facilitate the cross weaving or that the cross strings are tensioned much lower than the main strings. Only referring back to the stringer himself than can this puzzle be solved.
okay so ive tried to make the cross tension higher and all 6 point supports r firm. when weaving the supports did not move. what is going on. unless my eyes r going off. is there any other way to make it elongated? argh!
the next thing is you need to check your eyes. is it really rounded? or just your imagination... maybe next time you can take a photos and do a trace of the racket head on paper.
thats a good idea. yeah i will take a photo and post it later, thanks for the comments guys. will check out how im mounting it and to see if the supports are firm. otherwise seriously if my eyes arent off i have no idea what im doing wrong =[.
Ok after checking your eyes Here comes something that really need your good eye sight When you set your racket on the platform, make sure the frame is not loose especially at the north and south pole. And you shouldn't try to elongate the frame either as it could cause serious crack. Best would be adding 2 extra pounds for the crosses. Btw some questions for you guys out there, if you pre-stretched the main string, say 25 @ 10%, would you still use 27 for the cross? Theoritically speaking the shape shouldn't be the same as a normal 25/27 Today's new machine has the 6 point, does it help in anyway? Its a long time I haven't string a racket
Theoretically speaking the shape should be same . The shape should be same. When the mains are set at 25 lbs and the crosses at 27, we would get at 27/27 as the finished product. This is provided we do the mains first. Why? Because the later weaving of the crosses through the mains, on tightening, would exert additional tension to the mains. .
Pre stretch on a Electric machine will just pre stretch. So if your reference tension is 25 lbs with a 10% PS, the machine will pull to 27.5 lbs, then settle to 25 lbs. All this will do is make the string bed slightly tighter, initially after stringing. A lot depends on the type of string used, but most syn guts keep the tension longer when pre stretched. Baddy67, As for the shape being more round, the best way to tell if the head is more round is to measure it before and after stringing. As for tightness of the mounts, I've always been told that the racquet should be mounted Two finger tight, with very little effort. The thing to remember is, to be able to tighten and loosen with the same amount of effort, before stringing. The racquet will temporarily loosen during the stringing process, this is normal.
maybe my question not tricky enough Pre-stretch a yonex cab 20 @ 10% of 25 lbs for the 22 mains and 27 lbs no pre-stretch for the crosses. Using a yonex nanogy 95 and of an electronic stringing machine
Don't need to measure racket head for shape distortion. Just place it against an unstrung racket to compare the head shape!
