Glad to know how determined the SIN track & field team are, uncle.
However, as the subforum implies ('Badminton Tournaments', that is), shouldn't this thread be specifically limited into badminton-related information in the upcoming SEA Games?

Taufik lost to lower rank player again today.
But I guess PBSI will still call him for Sea Games after all he is still rank no 1 from Indonesia. It is good to put Taufik to play first single and Simon can be 2nd single. But for individual MS, better let Simon play and a young player.
I guess Sony may not be entered. I suppose better to give a younger player more experience.

Firda and Linda will play. The other 2 spot will filled by Febe, Nana, April or Bella, and it will be determined through selection. And base on the news , Febe is on the top during selection and will all the matches , followed by Bella, Nana and April. So i think the other 2 spots is for Febe and Bella. As expected, April never doing well against INA players. But i prefer April and Bella to go.

Federations in No Rush To Register Athletes for SEA Games
Ami Afriatni | October 06, 2011
It is not just the venues that face a last-minute rush in order to be ready in time for the Southeast Asian Games.
With 35 days before the opening ceremonies take place in Palembang, only half of Indonesia’s sports federations have settled on the athletes they will send to the Games.
The Indonesia Gold Program (Prima), which oversees training camps in each sport for the event, confirmed on Thursday that only 24 of 48 federations had submitted their final squad lists.
“Actually, we hoped all the federations could finalize their rosters [on Wednesday],” said Surya Dharma, the head of Prima’s operational department. “However, several federations still have training camps or tryouts abroad, so they asked to send the squad list later this month.

Badminton: Tommy Sugiarto Is Back
Ami Afriatni | October 07, 2011
After 15 months out of the Indonesian Badminton Association’s good graces, Tommy Sugiarto is back with the national team. Tommy and Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka rounded out the men’s singles squad as the association, also known as the PSBI, announced its 20-shuttler squad for the Southeast Asian Games on Friday.
Taufik Hidayat and Simon Santoso were already assured of their places. That left the ailing Sony Dwi Kuncoro, who won a silver medal in men’s singles in the 2009 Games after losing to Simon in the final, out of the squad and with plenty of time to rue his precipitous drop in form.
“This really is an honor for me because [the PBSI] recognizes my achievements despite the fact I’m no longer in the national training camp,” Tommy said on Friday. “I’ll do my best for the country.”
Friday’s announcement was another breakthrough for the 23-year-old, who quit the national team in June 2010 after slumping to 123rd in the world ranking. Tommy has won three tournaments this year, including his first Grand Prix Gold title in Taiwan, and seen his ranking rise to 18th.
“I have a big responsibility on my shoulders right now, and I will work hard not to disappoint the fans,” said Tommy, the eldest son of Indonesian badminton legend Icuk Sugiarto.

SEA Games Venues Will Be Ready, Contractor Says
Ami Afriatni | October 10, 2011
Laughing off mounting doubts about venues for the Southeast Asian Games, one of the major firms in the project insists they will be built on time.
Progress has been slow in construction of three main venues — the athletics stadium, aquatics center and shooting range — at Jakabaring Sports City in Palembang, which is co-hosting the Games with Jakarta.
Delays have seen construction fall well behind schedule, raising concerns whether the South Sumatra capital will be ready when the Games open on Nov. 11.
“Working hours in construction are different than the usual office hours,” Endang Hidayat, the aquatics center project manager, said on Monday.
“In construction we have effectively 24 hours in a work day, with three teams working in eight-hour shifts. We can assure you the aquatics center will be finished on time.”
