I believe you got the order of the video wrong. The feather processing video comes before the shuttlecock production. Other than that, great find. :)

I wonder why they skip the feather extraction... was it too inhumane and gruesome to show?.....

No, they did not skip it. The reason why it was not shown is simply because they don't do this part of the cycle. Feathers are bought from other suppliers who are usually not involved in shuttlecock production, although some producers do trade in feathers.

I read from somewhere that the best feathers are from Northeast provinces of China.... the ones from the south are inferior...

    is this true?

I think there is just the same bird from the North / South China. Since they fly around during the season. It just depends on when they got caught. :)

unfortunately, i think those geese are farm raised and don't fly around. raised and fed for meat consumption and then the feathers are the byproduct.

I found the link which says feathers from Northeast China are of higher grades...

    http://badmintonmap.com/shuttle.php

    two more questions:

    1) does anyone know what kinda of geese are slaughtered for shuttlecocks???
    2) are geese from regions with dried weather better for shuttlecocks?
