Is Chong Wei Feng the toughest local elite player to beat in view of the longer time duration to beat him? Or was LCW not playing that seriously as he did against MAAL?
Is Chong Wei Feng the toughest local elite player? . Chong Wei Feng did well (it was quite a close Game 2) and extended LCW to a 46-minutes match. But I did not get a chance to watch the match. Hope that BCers who watched the match would tell us. .
I watched the men’s singles match of the National Circuit Grand Prix Finals at Kuala Terengganu between Lee Chong Wei and Mohd Arif Abdul Latif and I noted with concern the following: The service judge and linesmen were so, so; they have to upgrade. The prize money was way too paltry; it’s difficult to motivate the players and even more embarrassing for the winners/runners-up to hold the mock cheques; this was a Grand Prix Finals tournament for goodness sake. Mohd Arif Abdul Latif serves were faulty and were above the waist; the service judge did not call fault even once; MAAL would not have passed international scrutiny and Hendrawan should do something about his serves. The linesmen called in a few out hits which riled the spectators who made known their displeasure very vocally. The outstanding elite player has to be Chong Wei Feng who gave LCW a very good fight in the semi-final match. It is hoped that he gets more international exposure.
The Malaysian National Circuit tournament is organised for title only...... . Thanks for your comments (from what you've seen). From what I think, the Malaysian National Circuit tournament is organised for title only. No surprise that the prize money is small and embarrassing. .
Title or not, it's not dissimilar to a league such as the China and INA leagues where decent prize monies are at stake. The professionals take part and they should be rewarded accordingly. Why sweat it out when you can conserve your energy. The only big titles that are worth fighting for, are the OG, AG and World Championship tournaments.
fully agree with you... beside Malaysia Open Super Series and GP Gold.. i think the National Final should be the next biggest tournament for badminton sport of coz some might say, we have some occassionally Satelites, Invitations or Challange but if we talked about yearly tourney, National Circuit is the highest for local.. from what i read above, beside the money, the linesmen and service judge are also from questionable quality which is sad for badminton....furthermore there is no live from RTM...while football Malaysia got live almost every weekend....
It's not dissimilar to a league such as the China and INA leagues...... . Yes I agree. From what prize money that LCW earned from this event, LCW could have played in either of the CHN and INA leagues, to earn more. Perhaps, BAM couldn't get enough financial sponsors. But what has happened will shut up some BCers who think that LCW is only interested in playing to win BIG prize monies. .
Lee Chong Wei held back at the beginning of both games, and gave CWF a lead until the interval (about 5 points lead) Then he stepped up the pace and went all out. CWF got stuck in the first game when LCW suddenly changed his pace and dropped many points before picking up towards the end but in the second he was able to respond well. I dare say that he has the best defense among all MAS shuttlers excluding LCW. Arif's match was pretty dull, as LCW played half pace throughout the whole match spare a few rallies.
