The active ager shall be male and 50 years and above
as at 1 January 2011, those born on or before 1 January 1961 and
the veteran player shall be male and 45 years old and above as at 1 January 2011, those born on or before 1 January 1966 shall be eligible. The composition of the Active Ager/Veteran Menís Doubles shall include at least one active ager player/participant.

Frankly, they should increase the age for these two categories to encourage more elderly players to play competitively.

And furthermore, since the retirement age has increased to 62 and will extend to 65 soon and as the general health condition has improved.

Maybe they should increase the age for Active Ager to 60 and the Veteran to 50.

    2. Pasir Ris East 0, 1, 0
    3. Bedok 0, 1, 0
    4. Yio Chu Kang 0, 1, 0

    6. Mounbatten 0, 0, 1
    7. Punggol Central 0, 0, 0
    8. Kampong Chai Chee 0, 0, 2

From the above analysis, it seems Yew Tee and Punggol Central are the ones to watch as they have not lost any match, unless their previous opponents were relatively weak.

I understand that Yew Tee has two Indonesian players but what about Punggol Central. Do they also have two foreign players?

Surprisingly, tank288's favourite team, Sembawang, with two China players just made it through to Round 2 after scrapping through their last two matches.

Will Yew Tee continue with their winning streak?

Come along tonight to see things for yourselves.

    GP. A

    - Kg Chai Chee vs Toa Payoh Ctrl
    - Tanglin-Cairnhill vs Pasir Ris East
    - Bedok vs Toa Payoh East
    - Changi-Simei vs Yio Chu Kang

    Gp. B

    - Sembawang vs Boon Lay
    - Chua Chu Kang vs Punggol Ctrl
    - Mountbatten vs Pasir Ris West
    - Geylang-Serai vs Yew Tee

Second round will commence on 11th May '11.
Looks like bottom half are much stronger, making it exciting from now on.....
Mountbatten vs P.R. West and Geylang S. vs Yew Tee are matches that I won't miss.
Tonight will see fireworks again. Unfortunately I can't attend.

It would seem those teams highlighted above should win as they were the winners in Round 1. Hopefully all the first team players are available. But one should not discount any upset.

As generally agreed Group B will be the tougher group. But will Sembawang meet Yew Tee to clinch a place in the final? Time will tell.

Anybody knows yesterday's result? Can't wait to know. Haha...

Tomorrow must go to watch the semi-final. Will tell my wife that I need to accompany customers, as evening of Wed and Fri are off day for her actually. Haha...

I will try my best to join you tomorrow for the QF if you can make it.

But it is dangerous to 'bluff' your second half. Why not bring her along?

Yes CCK beat Punggol Ctrl 3-1 and this must be considered an upset since PC did not lose any single match in R1 while CCK went to the Loser Pool.

Tanglin-Cairnhill also upset Pasir Ris East 3-2. It must have been a very close fight.

But as I've said before, the various teams must be fielding their best teams, especially those who lost in Round 1.

I would like to see Sembawang and Yew Tee winning their matches this evening and will meet in the semi. In my opionon, these 2 teams are 2 of the strongest teams in this competition.

So far, the mixed doubles pair from Sembawang has been very impressive....

Mountbatten looks like the champion for this year. All their 5 (pairs) players are strong.

What a pity that Yew Tee lost to Mountbatten 2-3. Too bad all the strong teams met in this half. It'll be nice to watch Mountbatten vs Sembawang on next Monday.

Sembawang's Veteran team too weak. Obviously will give any other teams first point.

Mountbatten very strong and all players are even. On next Monday they will win in veteran 100%.
I think women's single is very important for both teams.
Mix doubles, Sembawang's ex-national Jiang Yan Mei is obviously better than any other lady. Her defense is so good.
Men's single will be another close fight.
Sembawang's men's double is strong as Bai Song is so good.
