I might be staying in Malvern for a couple of weeks in October. Is there any badminton clubs operating in that area?
wow. nice. I went to Malvern College. it is a very pretty area. unfortunately, aside from the school where the school kids plays, i don't know of any where which has badminton.
Ah... thanks Kwun! My Grandma lives in Malvern now so I will be visiting her. Guess I may have to leave my gear behind for two weeks. Geez I might get the shakes if I don't play for too long .
wow. that's a beautiful British countryside. she found a very nice place to live. if you ever visit Malvern College, just imagine a very young kwun with his rackets in hand, walking in the snow down the path in the college green down towards the gym for an afternoon of badminton. ah... the sweet memories.
Haha! Very small world indeed. I can't imagine our lives being so intertwined yet living in different parts of the world.
I just found Malvern Hills Badminton Club playing Mondays and Thursday nights at Malvern College Sports Hall. Could anybody from the area tell me how competitive they are? Is there a sign up sheet/board for drop-in players or does one just hold his palm together and pray that he gets invited into games? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
nice! hope you get to play there. and please take some pics of the college as well as the sports hall. i haven't been back for nearly 20 yrs..
Hi, check the Worcestershire league and clubs and this club too http://www.worcesterbadminton.org.uk/#2 or travel abit further into Birmigham, you will find more clubs too. I did know that Kwun was in UK? What years were you in Malvern? if 20yrs that is probably around 1990
i was in Bath 1989-1991, Gt. Malvern 1991-1992. yup. 19 years. how time flies. i had such a great time in Malvern, i still remember tears in my eyes when i was waiting at the train station on my way home.
Hi Just found this maybe this will help Cappy 75 - all the clubs and address http://www.pitmastonbadminton.org.u...ent&view=category&layout=blog&id=15&Itemid=18 or try Birmningham Chinese Badminton Club or any of the popular clubs in Birmingham Bath and Malvern.. both are very nice area "tears in my eyes" Probably you found 1st love in Malvern.. and the days up in Malvern Hills drinking Hereford Bulmers Cider
Hey Skanbuzz! Thanks for the headsup! I will definitely check it out. Not sure how far I could travel from Malvern Hills. It's doable for me if it's accessible by public transit.
I'm living near Bath now, moved back from Bangkok. Although Bath Uni is famous for its Team Bath high level coaching school, normal clubs do not play to a high standard there - have to travel to Bristol for that.
i used to study in Monkton Combe. like eons ago. never played badminton there though as they didn't have a proper gym then.
Hey Kwun, Looks like I don't get to go to Malvern afterall. My grandma is coming to visit in August. Sorry I won't be taking pictures for your college memory lane. I was looking forward to visiting too.
Malvern Bound! Tickets bought and will be around the area for 3 weeks starting October. I might not get to play while visiting there but I will bring minimal amount of gear just in case .
wow. looking forward to some pics. badminton or not. the Malvern College campus is beautiful, definitely go for a visit if you have a chance!
3 Straight nights of baddy this week I just want to thank Malvern Hills Badminton Club and Worcester Badminton Club for having me in their regular nights games on Monday and Wednesday. The games were great and people were very friendly. I would love to play more but unfortunately I had to cut short my baddy drop-ins due to changes in our travel arrangement to cut the commuting time to the airport next week. Skanbuzz, thanks again for pointing me in the right direction! Perhaps next time I could check out the clubs in Birmingham.
