what are you preference? most professional floor standers are designed with a height for standing up. and that makes a lot of sense for professionals who needs to move around the racket a lot. how about for amateurs? i sit my machine on a cheapo IKEA table and thus i need to sit down. it is nice not have to strain my legs when stringing. but the posture isn't the most versatile. i am considering getting a stand for my WASE. Eagnas sells some height adjustable ones for under $100. which seems reasonable. i just need to figure out how to mount them to my WASE.
I stand, I got a table model for versatility but should have just gotten the stand model since I always stand. Instead of buying a stringing machine specific stand I bought a stand designed for a table saw from a local hardware store.
I string at my kitchen table, so standing up. The shuttle express is nice in that it doesn't take up much space so it can be tucked away when i don't need it.
I use an old computer desk (remember the Commodore 64 anyone?) that is perfect for this amateur. Perfect height for standing at and perfect breadth for access yet with room to put tools.
i tend to do a bit of both, mostly weaving the crosses sitting, setting the drop weight and doing mains standing. cory
I have my AEF Flyer-IV (originally is drop weight) with Wise2086 and just recently I put them on simple computer table which has similar height with Eagnas floor stand. Your machine is lighter than mine. In Indonesia, a lot of similar to your machine with floor-stand (brand is Hart HM-11), let me find the picture first ... just buy a computer table
What are you preference? . To me, standing to string a racket is the best. Why?: There is so much freedom of movement while standing up (compared to while sitting down). Just raise your stringing machine to be more comfortable to string while standing up. .
I have a shop stool with wheels near my machine, when I need to get my eyes to stringbed level, I just sit down instead of bending down.
it looks like standing is the way to go. i am going to see if the Eagnas adjustable height stand will work for me.
I bought this laptop table from BigLots for $30. It's got wheels and the height is adjustable. It does have a split table that tilts, but you can probably screw in a support to keep it from moving.
I stand because I yet have to find a height adjustable stool My machine is height adjustable but it still sits too low while standing up I'm only 5'7 and using the Eagnas flex at the highest setting.
I spin the rackets in both directions (meaning I have to get out of the way of the shafts), so I have to stand up, but even if this weren't the case I'd stand up anyway - hunching over a machine would do me no good at all. As long as I can see the telly, I'm happy.
Ok then let me ask a related question. What is supposed to be the appropriate height for the machine? I remember somewhere that says the racket face should be at elbow height??
I spin mine in one direction, so every other string I have to get out of the way. If you spin in both directions the other way, you won't have to get out of the at all! Mine is just lower than elbow height. Not by design, just the way it came. I never had any problem.
What is supposed to be the appropriate height for the machine? . For me, elbow height is best. For you (being a taller person), you will need to raise your machine much higher than average. .
The height of your palms up and down, while your elbows at you side with you fore arms forward. Give or take an inch. Any lower and you're asking for a sore back.
