stringing backlog

has been rather busy lately so i accumulated a huge backlog of rackets.

right now i have a backlog of 6 rackets to be done by this weekend. probably daily stuff for some of you but that's quite a lot for me!

I know the feeling, it seems that everyone drops off their rackets during the weekend and not during the week.

I had 3 given to me on Friday and another of my own, got them all done though which is nice because we all play together on monday. Another few jobs and I'll be able to justify a wise head.

finished 4 out of the 6 just now. sweating already.

just finished the new BS10, next is the SW35. so sweet to string new rackets.

and i am done. i don't want to get near that machine again for another week.

avg tonight was around 30mins each. including mounting racket, unpacking and measuring string.

That's almost 24 rackets a day. The Wilson Team at the US Open string an average of 30 per day during the opening rounds.

stringing tennis is faster than badminton, there are way less strings and weaves, and no shared holes to deal with.

I used to finish 7 rackets on 1 thanks giving day. Then, I had double vision on the turkey. Definitely not a relax day...

i have a friend who string tennis. he advertise in craigslist and strings around 3 a day. i had wondered if i can do that. and i believe i won't be able to sustain that rate.

firstly i might go crazy having to stare at the machine for 1.5 hours every day. full respect to professional who does. i cannot do it.

and secondly, i need to my play my badminton and spend time with family.

i will just string low volume for the love of it and for my small list of referral based clients only.

I can tell you one thing it's faster than you think with tennis rackets. If you can do a badminton racket in 30-45 mins, a tennis racket would take 25 mins tops. But I don't think the mounting on the WASE can take a tennis racket. I can get about 3 done an hour with good pace.

i meant doing badminton instead of tennis. i wouldn't touch tennis with a 10ft pole.

If you ever get used to using swivle fixed clamps, you'll agree it's much faster.

I had a brief foray with flying clamps... never going back; it struck me firmly as a necessity, and I don't know how much (if any) time would be gained against swivel clamps.

That's almost exactly in line with my timings: badminton 35/tennis 25. Tennis has fewer weaves and no shared holes, hence the speed hike; the only drawback is the fancy ATW pattern I seem to have to use on every bloody Wilson that comes my way
