I bought new racket carbonex 21sp? Do i have to apply a over grip before playing it. Or can play out of the box.

Overgrip is needed IF you need bigger handle
if not, you can use it straight away
but people always said, try to change the original grip with better REPLACEMENT grip (RKEP or Karakal)

some people find that overgrips give better grip than the handle alone, so they grip it up straight away.
try it without first and see what you think

I specifically choose a smaller handle so that I can add an overgrip and end up with my preferred size.

Well, unless the stringer there put the yonex symbol on the strings all the time, it looks like the original strings. Considering how old the racket is I'm not surprised that the strings broke so fast... but that's life. I broke a set of zm62, brand new strings in less than 10 minutes (mishit while warming up...)

it is kinda like, "i bought a t-shirt, do i need to buy a sweater to put over it?"

well, it depends whether it is cold!

it is what is appropriate for your hand, not something that is "necessary". it depends on *you*. different people have different need and preferences..

brand new, you'll not notice it much, but after you use it for a few months, you'll begin to notice that the original grip starts to become more slippery with less grip... that's when you'll answer your own question with an overgrip :p

I have never use the original grip. the first thing I do when I get a new racket is to tear it Off and replace with a replacement grip.

The original grip is so hard with no cushioning. How to use?
