The UK Racket Stringing Association will be running their 2011 workshop at the National Badminton Centre in Milton Keynes on Sunday 17th April. Cost is 15.00 for UKRSA members and 20 for non-members. This workshop is not designed to teach people how to string, but to enhance that knowledge.

9.45 - Brief Introduction to the timetable and the presenters. Role of the UKRSA.
10.00 - Types of machines and how they differ
10.30 - String types, why strings break, selecting the right string for the customer.
    11.00 - Refreshment break.
11.30 - String tensions. Selecting the correct tension for the level of skill.
12.00 - Fake rackets - what problems do they present for the coach?
12.30 - When a racket comes in - what to check for, grommet replacement.
    1pm - Lunch
1.45 - Stringing patterns and what to watch out for.
2.15 - Practical stringing demo - top down or bottom up? Does it matter?
3.00 - Badminton racket customising? What changes can be achieved and why.
    3.30 - Refreshment break.
3.45 - Marketing your skills - running your own stringing business.
    4.30 - Finish and farewell

The reason I have chosen a Sunday is because that is what most people want. Weekdays are out as most people have daytime jobs and Saturdays tend to be more family oriented or busy coaching days. The last workshop was really enjoyable so I hope we see a good turnout. I was not aware that Milton Keynes has a Sunday railway problem, Liam liam@ukrsa.com

^Hehe - the "problem" is not with MK's rail, but the fact that I'd have to catch a train on the Saturday night to get there for 9 on Sunday.

Still, it's possible I could play the birthday card (no pun intended) and get use of the car. *crosses fingers.

We have some vacancies on this Workshop as a few UKRSA members have had to pull out, so anyone interested in attending, please email me at liam@ukrsa.com for more details. We should have some string freebies from Yonex and Ashaway, Liam
