professionals would never try something so inconsistent, when you hit the frame you have no idea where it's going plus more often than not it doesn't get over the net...

hmmm yea got a point...but it's still frustrating when you're waiting for a super big smash but your opponent hit the frame...have to make a huge dive to the net ..=D

why would you intentionally hit the ball with the frame? it's like destroying your own racquet especially if you have a high tension.

It was illegal before the 1960s, it was called a wood shot for obvious reasons. As the frames were wider being made of wood maybe it was easier to control aswell.

That's the direction I think badminton will head towards once we've mastered stroke deception, and we're not even close to that.

Not only do the professionals have to control where the bird goes after they hit, but also where they hit the bird. Next we'll be trying to hit the feathers instead of the cork.

How about hitting the shuttle with the handle?
I don't see any badminton laws against that being a fault...

As a matter of fact, quite often during exhibition games, the pros will use the handle to do a net shot!
eg. Rexy and friends.

That's more glancing than hitting. I meant more of, only the feathers. Of course, that'd only work if the shot comes towards you cross court, but who knows? I love surprises.

The handle has an element of surprise, but it still moves in the same way a regular shot.

hitting the frame will break the racket?? i think thats crazy talk i hit my frame so many times and it only have a few paint chips no racket break !!

if you read carefully, he meant if the racket is strung at high tensions eg. 28-30lbs, then a hard frame hit especially at weak points at 10 or 2 o'clock positions will overstress the frame and crack it

My strings are only in the racket in case I miss the frame!

A single, clean hit off ANY part of the racket is a legal shot. I've yet to see a use the handle, though...
