Though a bit overpriced, the Yonex tool kit looks nice. This coming from a guy who paid $120 for a set of Kimony Awls.
I'm very tempted to buy that kit even though I've got all the tools I need now, they are a mishmash of different companies.

Which is why I didn't buy one even if they come with tools... I'd rather have a nice machine without tools than a crappy one with.

    crappy ? I guessed you've never had it ....

I have 4 Eagnas machines, and all are very well built.
Too bad, that my direct contact from Eagnas has resigned already.
    She gave a very good price ..e.g. Smart-909 is only US$ 365, Challenger-1 is US$ 138 direct from Eagnas ...

You're right, I haven't had one but I chose not to based on the reviews of the machines and of the customer service. I can live without the experience.

^^^ It's not as bad as most of the posts you read, buy from Maxline. Though Maa probably deal directly with Taiwan, so his situation is much different from us. My first Eagnas machine came with great awl, it had a gray handle, and kinda square. I had to part with it when I sold my machine. The later models came with a yellow and black handle, and they were thick and looked chromed. I do agree with you on buying the tools separately. I prefer shear flush cutters, and micro needle nose pliers, like the Xcelite brand.

there must be some good ones. perhaps the higher end ones.

unfortunately, even the stand that i bought recently, it was pretty poor quality. some pretty rough sand casting of the leg with some rough machining on top. the finish on some of the parts are ok, but on some are non-existent. definitely not something that i would call quality.

surprisingly, since the stand was missing the reel holder, i emailed them and got a replacement in my mailbox within a week or so. no questions asked.

I think after 2006, Eagnas (LilyLee) moved production to mainland China. That's when the quality went downhill.

kwun, what machine did you buy 15 years ago?

I had a machine very similar to that, it was I think a Hawk 800. A stand up crank version. I got it in a garage sale for $50. I had some parts from a Flex 740 I wanted to transplant to it. Problem was no one wanted to buy it. I ended selling it for $200. Parted out the Flex 740 for more money than I paid for it. I hated those clamps on the Hawk 800. As I recall it did come with an awl.
