Ow Yao Han-Chooi Kah Ming
They upset Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong at the Kuala Lumpur Open 2011. Will this pair replace their seniors and reach greater heights in the future?

I woke up in the middle of the night for no reason, about 3AM. Flipped on the TV to see whether there is any badminton match still going on as I learnt about the delayed telecast from george. Saw them down 15-16 in the third game against KKK/TBH. They were energetic and powerful in their attacks while KKK/TBH seemed to be struggling with their defence and kept lifting the shuttle. As they kept lifting, this energetic pair just kept smashing home. Nothing special shown by Chooi/Ow, but I like their spirit.

Wah, so fast open new thread for Ow/Chooi. Assuming they will be permanent pair, I reckon they will take 2 more years. They need to breakthru with a small international title like International CHallenge.

That's why I said they were nothing special. They lost to CPS/OJG in straight games.

Astro 801 is showing a repeat of the earlier match between Lydia and TYJ which Lydia won. Ow/Chooi's match is the last and I can't stay awake until then. Anyone knows the result?

Now, after watching that match, i think the Professor who commented negatively on KKK is justified...from what i observed, it seems KKK is the reason why they lost...his unforced error is too many liao...too fired up is a bad thing...Tan on the other hand played well.
My two cents, Yao Han and Boon Heong would make a very lethal and unbeatable partnership...both of them has a kind of calmness and steadiness while playing under intense pressure...well i dont see this in KKK or Chooi's gameplay...in fact, those two contributed lots of "bonus" points to their opponents and thus their elimination.

Koo Kien Keat has better mental toughness than Tan Boon Heong. Watch the finals of the All-England, the WC, etc. It's because he is the playmaker that's why he has many mistakes. When it's not his day, it can be disastrous.
I agree with you, however that Chooi Kah Ming is pretty weak and Ow Yao Han is exceptional.Last edited by undeadshot; 04-09-2011 at 10:10 PM.

That's one of the reason why I surprise a thread on Ow/Chooi is started so fast, cos I think they will change partner. Chooi physical strength not improved since his junior days? Every time I watch Chooi, I keep thinking he needs to take more muscle building vitamins, lol.
Ow with TBH, at international stage, I think Ow will get nervous(he does), still rookie. Interesting to watch though. After OG 2012, good to try out.
