Another "choosing a racket" thread....sorry!!!

Hi guys,

After getting into badminton after a 15 year break I've decided its time to get a better racket than the £15 Slazgenger I've been playing with.

I used to play to club standard in my late teens/ early 20s but gave the game up until a couple of months ago aged 42. I've done a little research and my style of play (singles, attacking, smash where possible, not a particulary fast swing) would seem to suit a head heavy, medium flex racket, is that correct?

The APACS line seems to give decent value for money but I'm finding the number of choices bewildering. Can you recommend a racket around £50 (I'm in the UK) that would be suitable for me?

I know you guys get asked this question I lot but after doing the initial research on what racket suits what type of players I've kind of hit a brick wall with the number of rackets, product codes, specs etc. and I'm getting nowhere fast!!!

try the APACS Tantrum 300..

APACS are always recommended as the best value for money, but that's almost always by people in N.America or Asia, where APACS rackets are much cheaper.
Here in the UK, you can get good rackets from quality manufacturers for just a little more, if you shop around.

Cheers Calvin, the Head Power Helix 10000 looks to fit the bill. I'll try and find some reviews on that.

with £90 you can buy many high end rackets including Yonex SP code

Hi Avenger, I've found the Head Helix 10000 and 8000 for £45 which is right in my price range. I'm thinking the 8000 will be better for me at this point given the more flexible shaft?

oh, I thought you are looking at the link that Calvin789 give

I think medium is fine

I even recommend stiff if you have the power (as you said you smash a lot), if not, go for medium stiff (or medium)

Thanks. The last time I bought I racket it was before the Internet and you just asked the guy in the sports shop his opinion or bought the same one as another club member. All this information is great but hard to come to a decision over!!
