Just my observation.
M'sian Ms have always been late boomers.
CHN MS will suddenly accelerate in develoment after 19. Maybe because they push their juniors hard in training so by the time they hit 21 they become top players and very consistent. But after they hit 25 or 26 or so the same training regiment will result in more injuries and their performance drop. SJ, Ji XP, Dong J, XXZ , BCL and now may be CJ are prime example of this. LD is the exception.
M'sians tend to have a late charge. Rashid reach top flight at 23-24 then went down before coming back up at 28-29. Foo K K was not feared by anyone before 25, then as soon as Misbun retired he became someone top players do not want to meet. He was Zhao J H nemesis.
one can say about Ong E H after 24 where he could hold his own against top players until he was 29 but his was not championship material.
Wong C H best years was when he was 24-26. Now LCW had maintained his position at the top for almost 5 years either as No.1 or No. 2 after he was 24.
So if Daren keeps it up, he may still blossom after he gets past 25 which 12 to 24 months time.

Badminton: Daren takes Taufik to the distance before losing in thriller
PETALING JAYA: World No. 1 Lee Chong Wei sailed into the second round of the Indonesian Open but it was Liew Daren who stole the limelight by stretching Indonesian ace Taufik Hidayat in another epic three-match thriller in Jakarta yesterday.
Daren, who many expected would surrender meekly to Taufik in front of the boisterous Indonesian fans, fought tooth and nail before finally going down 28-30, 23-21, 12-21 in 76 minutes.
This is the second time that Daren, ranked 64th in the world, had taken Taufik to the distance. Daren had lost 24-22, 12-21, 18-21 in the first round of the Singapore Open last week.
Despite the defeats, there is a slight improvement in the lanky Daren’s game.
“At least we can see some improvement in Daren’s game and it’s a good sign that he may be catching up with the top players,” said national singles coach Rashid Sidek yesterday.
Close encounter: Liew Daren fought tooth and nail with home favourite Taufik Hidayat before losing 28-30, 23-21, 12-21 in the first round of the Indonesian Open in Jakarta Thursday.
“For him to take Taufik to three games in two tournaments in a row is a positive step and he should continue to train harder and work on rectifying his mistakes. Hopefully, he will reach the top some day.”
Hopefully he keeps his consistency, so far Liew Daren has done pretty well after his disastrous outing in the Thailand Open. I had given up hope on him some time ago but he seems pretty persistent, I am starting to hope on this shuttler again.
He has shown better results than his batch, and hopefully grow to become clear-cut better than the others and stay injury-free.
