Check out his profile at www.bwfbadminton.org ... he has put a lot of players ranked above him to shame this year... definitely a rising star, with raw talent, and determination. A definite top 10 candidate in a couple of years.

It has been reported somewhere that LD practices 'cutting down' or 'eliminating' unforced errors by giving a huge handicapped to himself of letting the opponent (sparring partner) with a huge point lead of at least 10 points. While majority of players know it's absolutely necessary not to let an opponent to lead too far ahead, it is the very fact that this practice will seriously teach you not to 'play play' in a sparring session, much less a tournament. So the mentality is programmed to play by winning points at a 'stretch' continually because you have to, it's a do or die situation. So in play, in crucial to have a huge lead cushioning for your own mistakes, but in practice, it's a must to practice gaining as much points as you can, which is what is lacking in malaysian players. I have never seen them obtained more than 5 or 6 points in a row, with LCW being the exception.
Try this type of training yourself. It will train your mentality because you are force to minimize your errors. It is said that LD starts a sparring session with at least a 10-15 margin. Sometimes the games starts straightaway with a 10-18 status. Of course, no one can confirm this.

Gao Huan
-4 tournaments played in a WHOLE YEAR! He has definitely not been given exposure, probably one of the China Team B who doesn't get to play anywhere. He did pretty well in the 4 tournaments he has participated with the exception of China Masters. His losses were to Du Pengyu, Sony Dwi Kuncoro, P. Kashyap and Chen Yuekun.
-I would say he is an okay player and he has a chance against Chen Jin. However, I do not believe that Liew Daren should lose to Gao Huan and it is nothing short of a poor result based on Gao Huan's past performance. Those who say the past is the past, we shall see if Gao Huan can beat Chen Jin, because I actually believe that Liew Daren can beat Chen Jin.

it looks like the french open is a one-off achievement for the late boomer daren liew....
either that or chen long is just physically too strong for him...
i would like to think it is the latter but it's hard to see anyone beat top chinese singles players
CHN has the best singles players in big numbers and KOR has the best doubles players in big numbers... it's a proven FACT...
