I don't think late bloomer is all that bad but time is running out for Darren. Although many Chinese players get to the top young, they don't last that long and many(or most) retire by their late 20's.

Hendrawan was a player who came good mid-career. So did Poul-Erik Hoyer-Larsen. Not sure if late bloomers are more difficult to come across under the new scoring system.

Poor guy, being withdrawn from Korea Open PSS because of poor performance in end of last year international tournament and downhill performance in national circuit...Rashid withdrawn him and wants him to stay at KL to concentrate on Mas Open.

Hope this serves as a good lesson for him.

You mean Darren Liew was withdrawn by coach Rashid from the KOR PSS for underperforming at end of last year? But how is he going to improve or learn from the best in the world then? I thought last year was his best performance in his career so far. It's only natural to hit a bad patch for a while after a couple of good results for a fairly fast improving player at a certain period of his career.

Hope that decision is not counter-productive in the sense of de-motivating him, the reverse of what was well-intended. Probably, coach Rashid thinks his chances are better at the MAS Open, obviously.

basing the recent MO and Djarum Superleague, LDR showed very bad body language and poor determination to win. He seems still having problem with his fitness and stamina to last three games.

He has to show good attitudes during the his match and not gives up easily !!

Work harder, there is no short cut to success......Liew Daren remember this !!

Compare this with Hans K Vittinghus' attitude and determination against LCW at last year's All England and you get a huge contrast, doesn't it? Skills wins medals, attitude wins hearts. But what is not mention enough is - attitude can improve skills by leaps and bounds. The right attitude. Daren's 1 dimensional attacking play will not surpass much further if he does not include variations in styles of play as once you reach top 10 level, virtually all opponents will be waiting for you to smash. It's no wonder Daren's gas tanks is emptied so fast. Hendrawan's style of play could teach him a thing or two. I don't think Rashid has anything to offer him.

One thing i notice while watching Liew Daren vs Tommy Sugiarto live in Djarum Superleague is that Daren is too easy to be provoked. On the 1st set, he performed really well, however when things turned out against his favor in 2nd and 3rd set due to a few questionable line calls, disagreement from Tommy to change shuttle, & booing from spectators drove Daren crazy. As a result, Daren could not concentrate fully on his game and beaten by Tommy.

Looks like he's still struggling with injury.

His playstyle wise, I think he is more skilled the Chong Wei Feng but he is just SO LAZY. If only CWF has his skills...

Today's match totally highlights what has plagued Daren for so long - A player with very, very good skill and power but plagued with fitness issues and poor concentration.
