Can't stand the design of most badminton shoes

I just find them overly busy, intrusive and techy. What with all the bits of plastic here, silver there, weird shiny bits there etc. No offence to anyone who loves the designs, different strokes for different folks right?

In my disdain for the designs, I ended up buying a pair of trainers like these.

Not the best looking, but fairly simple and decent (imo). However, now I kind of regret it and wish I bought some actual badminton shoes.

Can anyone recommend any fairly simple, traditionally sleek looking badminton trainers? Nothing too outrageous or outlandish. I don't want to feel like I'm wearing a mini Starship Enterprise on my feet, just some slick little kickers.

    Thanks.

Don't like the tri silver thing on the side of the SHB-200 but they're not bad. The trainers above look pretty cool though. Love the colours and simple design. What make and model?

Mizuno Mastercross Wave XX a discontinued model but might still be available in Hong Kong. Only thing is they are a narrow design, 2E width with your average Yonex being a 3E and special wide models being 4E width. I think the Mastercross' have been the best design of the last several years, making it even more too bad they are so narrow ...

http://www.mizuno.jp/badminton/shoes/mastercross.html There's the XX, the DX and the Pro but all 2E width; also there are two generations of these. I think these are the first gen in the link above ... and 2nd gen below. I guess they were called XX2, DX2 and PRO2 :D.

Ok, so I've finally seen some simple, slick, sexy looking badminton shoes I like. Saw Lin Dan wearing these in the latest Finals tourney he played at. Can anyone tell me what model they are and where I can buy them? If not in the UK then imported.

the trend now is to molded plastic outer casing like the babolat shoes below. wait for the next generation or two then we will see many badminton shoes like that. the difficulty in making these shoes compared to leather/synthetic leather top is how to glue/stitch the plastic with the rubber soles without the seem splitting pre-maturely. but seems that manufacturer have figure it out now.

They look awesome too. Colours are a bit bold for me though. I'm more of a white colour kinda person. How do users find the Babolat's and do they do badminton shoes, or only tennis?

i don't know if Babolat will make badminton shoes.

but you know that there are really only a few "real" shoes manufactures and shoes R&D dept. word is that the technology will soon get used in badminton shoes as well...

I guess I'll wait till they get released. Tennis shoes (imo) definitely look a LOT cooler than Badminton shoes though. But yea, these new Lin Dan shoes give me hope. Hope they don't cost a fortune though...

of course they will. they always do.

look at it, a few years back, a nice pair of badminton shoes tops maybe US$70, less than that in Asia. nowadays, the top models are US$110+.

Crazy. I've never purchased any Li-Ning products. Just checked UK prices on them and they range any where from £60 to £90. That is quite shocking and far too expensive.

Li-ning National Team's clothes & shoes now will not sell in store. For example , their white shirt in Badminton Asia Championships 2011.

How long do you guys thin it will be before they go on sale? Seems like a very poor marketing strategy to have their players wear the gear in games but not let customers buy the products. Very strange indeed.
