    Still not sure what you mean - I think you are saying the shuttle has gone past their body (and hence shoulder) in which case you are correct - power is lost from this position. However, given a backhand clear is a "get out of jail" shot for when in trouble, it needs to be played when the shuttle has gone past them - despite the fact that, as you say, this is more difficult. (p.s. sorry for struggling to understand )

    mseeley, sometimes it's just a reach/flexibilty issue that means backhand is required instead of around-the-head shot. In these cases it may be possible to get an early contact point.

    Stretch ya dominant leg further back(as parallel to the shuttle as possible) and hit the backhand clear to generate a little more power.

    OK I can reach the end line (I'm the blue one) The power of the shot has increased and I can do quite easly Sometimes it only gets to high and hit the roof (it isn't high enough). My friend is still rotating 180 deegres but he is still trying

    know the right grip and movements,try to hit as late as possible (which is to hit low unless its a backhand smash), bend your elbow a lil bit.
