Okay, this is the latest which i got from a very reliable source, barring any last minute withdrawals..

"40 countries, 330 players, Chen Jin, Bao Chunlai and at least 10 other very strong Chinese players.
Taufik also coming. It'll be the strongest US Open since 1997 Hong Ta Shan US Open"...yes, i remember that tourney..

Stay tuned for the M&Q draws which should be done next week..

Haha maybe I just checked the M&Q report, and yes Ko is playing with Lee. Maybe it is a comprimise from the Korean coach seeing as Lee "stole" HJE from Ko for XD events

Btw, good news. It looks like Lee Hock Lai has recovered from his injury, and will be able to play @ OCBC.

Wow,the ticket is more expensive than Indonesia Open Premiere Super Series

..it's been increasing; last yr's U.S. Open 1 week pass was $60 for the entire week..
Of course, this yr the hope is all the players who've registered will actually come and play (no withdrawals). If they do, then the organizer is banking on their presence to sell off the tickets and have a full house for the majority of the week.
Personally, i haven't seen a packed house from Day 1 or 2 til the Finals in the past 10 U.S. Open tourneys i've been to..Maybe this is the yr??..

Oh, yes, Lee Yong Dae (this will be his 2nd visit to the U.S. for a tourney) after a 6-7 yrs absence when he came as a junior..Welcome back, Sundae Lee!
And first timer Li Gen (Li Yongbo's son), who will compete for the 1st time in the U.S..

..this yr's turn out is rather close to the 2007 U.S. Open GP, which was also during an Olympic qualifying period, in terms of the number of participants. At that time, there were quite a few well known players who came esp. from JPN (e.g. Kanako Yonekura, Shoji Sato, Shintaro Ikeda, Maeda & Suetsuna to name a few). But, of course, the prize money wasn't as attractive as this yr's edition.

Just shy of 6 years. In fact, Lee and Ha were both juniors when they played the Worlds in 2005.
