Actually, this will be Lee Yong Dae's third trip and Ha's fourth. They were at the U.S. Open in 2003, as well, when Lee lost in men's singles and doubles just a day before his 15th birthday.

..yes, i was going to revise that..Can't believe it's been 8 yrs since Yong Dae was first here competing as young pup, i meant as a young teeny bopper..

Of course, this yr the hope is all the players who've registered will actually come and play (no withdrawals). If they do, then the organizer is banking on their presence to sell off the tickets and have a full house for the majority of the week.

$60! Well I guess not much more than here at regular non presale price (at this xchange rate anyway). How much is a finals ticket and capacity?? And is the scene bigger in LA or SF area?

Yes I am suprised that Lee has been on the international scene since he was 14.

probably explains why he has started developing quite a few injuries.

$60/week or even $80/week actually is a very good bargain granted all if not 99% of the supposed participants come and play.
Semifinals ticket for this yr is $30 for adult and Finals ticket is $35 for adult (see 1st page)

Which one is a bigger scene, L.A. or S.F.? I would say S.F. (norcal) simply because there are just more Asian/Chinese folks living up there; overall it's a bigger community; actually in the whole North American continent, it's S.F. (Bay area), then Vancouver, CAN then L.A. in terms of Asian community-size.
L.A./SoCal/OCBC has just been having the opportunity to host the U.S. Open for so many yrs because OCBC is one of, if not the pioneer supporter of badminton promotion in the U.S.....who knows, one of these days, NorCal will host a U.S. Open tourney..

..he was and is one of those can't miss talents; kind of similar with KOR's Kang Ji Wook (who played all 3 events, MS, MD, XD in last yr's WJC in Mexico). This yr, i'll be seeing how much he's improved over the last yr..

Correct... if applied to the west coast. Toronto has a larger Asian population than Van I believe

Why don't Malaysia send the youngsters here? Most countries are eagle to have their players collect more Olympic points except us?

I think the reason why Malaysia not sending their young players to play these tournaments mostly likely they want to stop them gain experiences and feed them to be only 'jaguh kampung', not 'jaguh dunia'...

Do you know how much a visa costs? Then add the flight and accommodation. I think this one is a bigger factor compared to other tournaments. And then if everybody else is there, what's the point? Let other people tire themselves out

Not only that...any people from Indonesia/Malaysia need a few months to apply theUS visa...not easy to say...
