I realized that sometimes I can have fast reactions when I'm really warmed up, sweating extremely, able to run/lunge for every shot, but there are also times that I feel lazy to run for it, unmotivated, powerless.

My standard routine is to eat 2-3 hours before game, followed by daily supplements like Vit C, B, Fish Oil.

I bring a bottle of cold water + another bottle of cold electrolyte drink for short break resting. Usually drink by few gulps between the two.

Is it advisable to drink hot or cold drink during short break?
    Drink 30-60 minutes before game?

Other basic knowledge includes eating 2 or 3 hours before game, don't gulp down drinks during playing. Stretch as much as possible.

Basicly what I want to find out is how to prevent the laggy / blur / slow feeling during game, want to keep the heart rate high

    Sleep at least 7-8 hrs.
Don't overtrain 1-2 days before an important tournament.
Carb load with lots of pasta a few days prior.
Have sweet yam/potatoes a few hrs prior.
One power bar half hour before.
    Sips of electrolyte replacement during.
Try to maintain bounciness/springiness when receiving serves and footwork around court.

However, sometimes we can have a bad day despite doing everything right.

is carb or protein better before game?
my carb choice would be rice, protein = 2-3 boiled eggs + 1 cup of low fat milk
btw i also get carb from my electrolyte drink during game

I've always been told to stock up on carbs in your body before a big event in the coming days. As for protein, I just make sure I have it my daily meals and I'll be fine.
Usually I don't drink cold water when physically active because my previous coaches have told me that it is bad for a body that is physically exhausted or close to the point. Drinking room temperature drinks is what I would recommend.
