man..i thought that was for real man..coz i remember frank said he was level 2 or 3 or sumting like that..but when i heard u say out of 12.... i was like.... then there must be coaches that r like 3 or 4 times better than frank?!?.... haha....Originally posted by Winex West Can
Jeez, I hoped that you guys realized that I was kidding about the level 10 of 12, eh?
There is only four levels in the coaching (in Canada). As for what level Frank Chen is at, I don't know and I don't think it matters as Badrad has previously posted. It's the person ability to coach and impart the necessary knowledge to the student.
The first time that I played singles with Frank, I only managed to get a point off him and he wasn't even trying

Only thing is Frank coaches in Richmond so you will have to factor in the transportation (i.e. can you get down to the church gym easily). I will see him tonight and if he is amiable, I will pass on his contact info.
BTW, SmashingBird took lessons from Frank so can give you a better assessment of how well he coaches.
newayz..i fink frank is a very patience coach, no pressure , not strict, but u will slowly see improvement in your game after a while, juss even by watching him play or how he plays, u will be able to improve.newayz... if u want more info contact me via icq 47806167 or email msn or wutever..supersayiamekpiccogetalo@hotmail.com

Do you think it would be wise if i had 2 coaches like Ximing yao and frank Chen......or would they teach 2 differnt styles ??? and it would be just a wait of money.....

which coach u choose is up to u...but definitely not both...if u go under ximing yao, frank will not teach u no matter how much u pay..n i would think yao wont like his students to be coach by two different coaches either...Originally posted by wonger47

"The first time that I played singles with Frank, I only managed to get a point off him and he wasn't even trying"
Lucky I didn't take up his offer to play some singles....I think he might have wanted some revenge for me and Badrad beating him in doubles
Maybe if he's there this Saturday, I'll play him...but only if I beat him first in doubles

yeah..frank is a good singles player but i think many ppl underestimate his doubles play as well juss because he is so smart in singles.... i think his doubles is on par wif his singles...is juss that usually his partner is not as good as him so he might look weaker in doubles than singles...(eg. 5=5 , but if is (5 + 4)/2= 4.5 so thus he seems weaker)

Hehehe.. Frank is my new coach

Already helped me fix some problems but I gotta practice those too..
He's real fun to watch.. cuz he's so relaxed.
He teaches in mandarin.. good thing Im from Singapore.. ehehe.. but anywasy.. he's always like.. "Fang song! Fang song yi dian!"
Translation: Relax.. relax a little!
Hehe which is so true.. he whooped smashingbird and i without even trying really.. i think he was a bit too relaxed.. lol.. he didn't even smash once.. well.. didn't need to.
Anyways.. I like his teaching approach.. drills.. analyzes your play/technique/movements.. and also he encourages you to watch him as he plays in terms of his own technique and movements.. and especially strategy. Because he's so relaxed.. it's hard to tell what he's gonna hit.. quite deceptive with the relaxed approach..
BTW: Frank just won the Masters for this year.. or that's what he just told me last nite :O

He was partnered with Paul, who is also my doubles partner sometimes. Paul and Frank are a tough team, but Paul is actually much stronger than Frank in singles and doubles.Originally posted by txyu

Frank has quick response, and TXYU and I had to get used to each others doubles play style, so they got some early points on us the first game. But just by picking up the speed and increasing our attacks, they really got very tired. I think the second game they only managed a couple points...
