BAM next move is there is no next move or never has any move....simply making up plans as it goes along, hoping LCW keep winning to keep everyone employed and cashing in on those sponsors money, no one gets fired even as MAS badminton sink to below that of Taiwan and Germany...only those who care and were really capable like Rexy got pushed out...I left MAS 35 years ago and today still the same MAS Boleh of connections and of Datuks running public enerprises. I bet 2 more years from now, still the same, and that is the MAS culture

BAM: It could have been better

    By FABIAN PETER
    27 May 2013

    http://www.sports247.my/2013/05/bam-...e-been-better/

    Excerpts:

“This is the first time we hosted the Sudirman Cup, and although everything went smoothly, I think it could have been better,” admitted Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) general manager Kenny Goh.

“Fan turnout was very poor, and we know that this was due to Malaysia’s early exit,” he added.

There was confusion about who was responsible for the media.

...It has to be pointed out, that there were no such problems when BAM organised the Malaysian Open Superseries and Grand Prix Gold tournaments and we can only conclude BWF need to get their act together.

...Last week, Kenny hinted Malaysia may not bid for any of BWF’s major events – Thomas Cup, Uber Cup, Sudirman Cup and World Championships as the new commercial model for these events do not favour hosts, with BWF earning 80 per cent of the commercial revenue.

When asked if this will affect the BWF Superseries Finals which Malaysia will host in December, Kenny replied: “We have not looked at that commercial model yet, but a decision will be made soon.

“Of course it will be good to be hosts as it will help increase the popularity of the sport.

“However, we have to take care of our own sponsors who have stuck by the association. We can’t just leave them out if we host a major tournament. We’ll make a decision soon.”

Malaysia will also host the Asia Junior Championships in Likas, Sabah, from July 7-14.

Change In BAM Leadership Not An Assurance For Success - Nadzmi

KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 (Bernama) -- A change in the leadership of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) is not an assurance that Malaysia will regain its lost glory, said BAM President Datuk Seri Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh.

The revival of Malaysia's badminton depends on the players and their ability to compete against the rest of the world, he told Bernama when contacted on Monday.

As the national body for badminton in the country, BAM can only provide the support, guidance, training facilities and quality coaches to assist the players in their quest for success.

"If there is a change in the leadership, three things can happen - badminton may continue to flourish, remain at the same level or a drop in performance.

"It is up to the players to ensure Malaysia's success," said Nadzmi who may not contest for the post of President during BAM's Annual General Meeting in July.

The Sudirman Cup debacle which saw Malaysia fail to qualify for the quarterfinals after being bundled out in the group stages by Taiwan and Germany, many, including Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar had expressed concern and the need to see a change in the BAM leadership.

Nadzmi said it was about time for BAM to look for new strategies and means to improve the performance of players.

"We need to learn the style of play adopted by world powers like China and South Korea. We must identify or analyse how countries that were below average or weak, have improved and even overtaken us," he said.

He said the BAM was always receptive of criticism but stressed that emotional reactions may not lead to any proactive results.

"For example, people are pressuring the BAM to produce quality back up players in the Datuk Lee Chong Wei mould, but that will not be easy. The kind of training that Chong Wei had gone through, took years and years.

"It will depend on individual players to show the type of commitment, fighting spirit and discipline shown by Chong Wei since joining BAM," he said.

As for claims that some senior players were involved in immoral activities like gambling and frequenting casinos during major competitions, Nadzmi said the coaches and officials had already reprimanded such undisciplined players.

"The association does not have total control over the activities of players because they are not small children," said Nadzmi who wished the new BAM leadership success in their endeavour to restore lost pride.

NADZMI theory is as same as the N(u know who)

he will success as B(usiness)AM president
a change in the leadership of BAM is not an assurance that Malaysia will regain its lost glory
but no change in the leadership of bam will ensure that they will keep making profit and go shopping(this year in china for WC)

I see signs of using the "gamblinggate" incident as a part of the "exit strategy"...
