indeed if they don't show any result in WC, BAM will have to eat the humble pie.
it breaks my heart to see HTH working so hard, breaking his balls just to have zakry squandered away all the hard earn point. they did get fairly good result in AE 2011, beating Fang-Lee in straight set and stretching BoMo before bowing out at quarter final. even then it was obvious that Zakry was weak, i was hoping he would improve, but the showing in Indonesia Open has been really disappointing.

The Star
Hoon-Zakry’s future depends on their performances in London
KUALA LUMPUR: The future of doubles shuttlers Hoon Thien How-Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif will depend very much on their performances in the World Championships which will be held in London from Aug 8-14.
The 25-year-old Thien How would rather stay focused on his present situation.
The stocky Thien How, who is excited over his debut in the world meet, is hoping that there will be a first-timer’s luck when he plays together with Zakry. They are Malaysia’s other entry for London beside the more illustrious Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong.
“Zakry and I may not have any good results to show this year but we have no intention of being too worried about our future right now. To us, what is important is to give our best in the world championships,” said Thien How.
“This is Zakry’s third world outing but a first for me. I want to make it a memorable one.”
Thien How-Zakry , ranked 26th in the world, have not achieved any outstanding results in international tournaments this year – except for one good showing at the All-England in March when they reached the quarter-finals.
Thien How did well at the Sudirman Cup in Qingdao, China but then, he did not play with Zakry.
Together with his former partner and world junior champion Tan Boon Heong, they shocked Jung Jae-sung-Lee Yong-dae to win a point for Malaysia in a quarter-final tie against South Korea. Malaysia eventually went down 2-3 to South Korea.
“We will go into the world championships as the unseeded pair. But the underdog tag probably will work well for us.
“Both of us are training hard and we are also focusing on our physical condition to be in better shape during the world meet,” he said.
Thien How-Zakry have invited unnecessary attention on themselves after the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) had selected them ahead of former internationals Gan Teik Chai-Tan Bin Shen although the latter had qualified on merit for the world meet.
All eyes are now on them to see whether they can justify their selection to the world meet.
“It will be a pressure if we take it as a pressure. A decision has been made for us to compete in the world meet and our job now is to get ourselves in the best form for the challenging time ahead of us.
“It will not be easy but we will give our best,” said Thien How.
Currently, Thien How-Zakry and their compatriots and world number 19th Ong Soon Hock-Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari’s places in the elite squad are not assured.

Moment Of Truth For Ah How

Thien How has had enough after suffering eight first round exits
THE STAR
EIGHT is enough. That’s the number of first round exits Hoon Thien How (pic) has suffered in international tournaments since pairing up with Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif last year.
He is now determined to end the jinx at the World Championships when he and Zakry open their campaign against 2005 world champions Tony Gunawan-Howard Bach of the United States at the Wembley Arena today.
“I do not want to lose in the early round with Zakry anymore – especially at this world meet,” said Thien How.
The world No. 25 pair have suffered first round losses in eight of their 13 international tournaments together.
“I have played against Tony when he used to play with Candra under the Indonesia banner.
“But I have not played against him with Bach and it will be quite interesting.”
Debutant Thien How has a good chance of going far with Zakry if they can take their chances against the naturalised American players.
A win will likely pit them against Taiwan’s Fang Chieh-min-Lee Sheng-mu in the second round.
The Malaysians had beaten the Taiwanese in the first round of the All-England this year.
Without former world and Olympic champions Markis Kido-Hendra Setiawan of Indonesia ruled out from their quarter after Markis was taken ill, the path is now open for Thien How-Zakry to reach the semi-finals.
Youngsters Lim Khim Wah-Chan Peng Soon will also be in action today against Poland’s Adam Cwalina-Michal Logosz in the first round.
Last year’s runners-up and fourth seeds Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong will enjoy a first round bye and are set to play China youngsters Liu Xiaolong-Qiu Zihan.
In the women’s doubles, Chin Eei Hui-Wong Pei Tty will take on England’s Jenny Wallwork-Gabrille White while the Ng sisters – Hui Lin and Hui Ern – will take on Russians Anna Kobceva-Elena Prus.
Mixed doubles aspirants Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying should clear their first round today against Mexicans Lino Munoz-Cynthia Gonzalez.
