For everyone's interest, here is LCW's latest string preference with his VT80: Here is the video where the still was taken. It is however not viewable in my region. An interesting thing to note is that the BG66 Sharp is no longer available in the market for sale and has been replaced mostly by BG66 Maxima and Ultimax. By the way this is also a pictorial proof for those who are searching to rebuff people's claim that Yonex racquets can't be strung up to 30lbs and that the professional players, LCW included are really using lower tensions
If LCW us using 30lbs I should think twice now using 30lbs. I usually put 28lbs except one that I put on the AT800T which is 30lbs. And been tempting to put 30lbs on all of my rackets, maybe I should not. I thought LCW and the likes are using 32-34 lbs
Why not If you are used to the string tension then it will just force you to play consistently using your best technique as high tensions can only be mastered with a good hitting technique. Just because a pro such as LCW uses such string and tension doesn't mean using the same will make you look like a giraffe doing ballet
Surely my skill and power is no where near him, so I guess a lower tension should produce the maximum power out of me. Also don't want to injured my hand.
Plus also I use 0.7 or 0.68 strings which at the same tension has a lower repulsion ability. Yes perhaps I should opt for 0.66 string should I put 30lbs
looks nice so.. I'm still wondering, what is the differences between BG66 sharp and ultimax? (I thought ultimax is better?)
BG66# is 0.68 and 66UM is 0.65 - quite a difference. This is quite a tame setup compared to what Lee used to play with - hell, even I could probably play with that! (but he'd most likely play it better...)
maybe i know if bg66 can reach up to 30lbs? coz one of my friend told me that or any bg66 or 0.66 string is not durable for 30lbs tension
nothings new or surprise to me. why not 30lbs or even 35lbs? well these are pro and sponsor by yonex, if break then change new ones.... these player change string every matches not even every tournament so string broken who cares... why bg66sharp? well, i am using day in day out, i never turn back since using it for 3 years now... i get my stock from JP...of course i still kept a dozen packets with me ....its gold ...
i used BG66 [the cheapest version] at 24 lbs in the past... and it lasted for about 1 to 2 months... playing 3 times per week... i am thinking of using BG66 ultimax... hope it's more durable...
Who are these people? And...are they deaf? when you hear them play it's obvious they play at high tensions...
But 30lbs is low tension btw.. seems very unprofessional of him to just state 30lbs if he does not know the stringer already..30x32 or 28x30.. that is the question
maybe he doesn't care? He probably has somewhere between 10 and 15 rackets; he gets it strung, puts it in his bag, probably leaves it there. Then when he has a match, he checks some of his rackets and picks one or two. If it's too low (so 28x30 insteas 29x31 or 30x32 or whatever) he'll just request 31 or 32 for his next frame... I think we're all making a big deal about nothing...
I do not think it is a big deal.. Perhaps he knows the stringer very well and the stringer know how hard he wants it when he writes 30. I know that team China has a dedicated team stringer that know every player an their preferences and take care of all the national team stringing for them during big events, to make sure he players get exactly the tension and strings they want. 30 lbs seems quite low compared to his nemesis. Maybe this is also indication of shoulder pain to try to minimize stress on the shoulder?
Hi, just a matter of interest, when LCW put 30lbs, does that mean Main 29lbs and Cross at 31lbs? or what combination?
NOT at all, at least from my experience The theory that a thinner string plays like a thicker string at higher tension does not always hold true, physically. If it does then BG66 at 30lbs will feel like BG65 at 35lbs!
