I just strung my VT80 with NBG95. I only played with it like 9hrs? I dont know still don't know if i like the string. What are the feelings you guys have with this string?
It's a pretty nice string. Very good durability and the repulsion is there but thinner guage strings obviously have more repulsion. It feels relatively soft, about medium and it is kinda slippery. Moves around quite a bit too. If I wanted a durability style string, this is what I would go with.
I see. I like the medium feeling because my other racket is strung with BG80 and I dont like the Hard Feeling. And what did you mean by slippery?
Well, the string is relatively smooth because of the nano coating so there isn't as much friction compared with the rough bg80. So the shuttle kind of slips off the strings during netplay. The slipperiness isn't too significant though so don't worry. If you like medium feeling strings and you don't care too much about durability, then nbg 98 is a choice. Better repulsion and feel compared to nbg 95, at the cost of durability.
lots of stuff here: http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php/30316-New-Yonex-Nanogy-95-String?
@ CanadianBadmint I wanted to get the NBG98 already but my dealer says USA only provides us what they provides so apprently US doesn't have NBG98... Lame.... But I might get NBG98 when I go to taiwan or even the BG66 ULTIMAX. @Kwun Thanks for the link it helped
You could always buy those strings online. Squashmart on ebay or mybadmintonstore.com are pretty good.
I'm seriously thinking about giving the Nanogy 95 a go. I thought it only came in gold but Stringers' World UK stock a flourescent yellow version. Whilst I like the BG65ti I tend to use it purely because of its 'durability' properties. In terms of durability how does the Nanogy 95 compare to the BG65ti? I have the new Yonex brochure and the Nanogy 95 is rated slightly more durable than the BG65ti despite being marginally thinner. Is that correct? Also, having mostly used the BG65ti, a 'hard' feeling string, what does it mean when a string is termed soft or medium feel?
If you search around, you'll get most of your questions answered. But to make it easier I'll sum it up. As far as I know, nbg 95 only comes in an ugly gold, light grey and graphite (very dark gray) but that could be different now. I have never tried bg65ti before so I wouldn't know for sure but their durability should be very similar. When it's this close, how long the strings last really depends on your luck. If bg65ti is anything like normal bg65, then nbg 95 should have more repulsion. In terms of the feeling, it's exactly as described. When you hit with a hard feeling string, you'll feel the dull impact whereas with a soft feeling string, it'll feel kinda like a sponge that absorbs all the shock. This is assuming it's all tested at the same tension.
in term of durability, the NBG95 will not lose to many string it is because NBG95 is a 0.7 gauge string so yeah, it should be durable however many people said it is slippery? (I have no idea what it means) I use NBG95 at 22lbs and it plays fine
I'm confused with slippery thing too, but I dont care it works fine for me then lifes good. Btw Avenger its actually 0.69 gauge. just correcting it.
I tried NBG95 for a while and found it pretty dead to begin with (no feel); it has to be played in before it works properly, and even then it's not the most communicative. Slippery... yes, I agree completely, by which I mean slice shots tend to slide across the bed rather than biting immediately; it's even greasy coming out of the packet. It's not particularly powerful, either (unlike its younger brother). All in all... skip.
NBG98 is a better choice compared to NBG95. In terms of durability NBG98 is equal to BG65Ti and NBG95 equal to BG65. Although at the same tension NBG95 feels very dull compared to BG65 but at least it has significantly more repulsion (and made me over clear and over shoot beyond the back line a lot while giving roughly the same impact feel as BG65 for those shots that should have landed in with BG65).
Slippery is observed with the NBG and with Ti strings. When u play the string moves on the string-bed:crying:, At some point u will want to pull them back in place to remake the regular 'squares'
NBG 98 is better,it is as durable as nbg 95 but it has more repulsion and "feel" than nbg 95. Power: NBG98>NBG95>NBG65 Durable: NBG98=NBG95=NBG65 Texture(Feel, for slice shots, net shots etc..) BG65>NBG 98>NBG 95 Overall performans: NBG 98>BG65 (>=) NBG95
Havent't tried NBG98 but on my NS 9000x NBG95 outlasted BG65. Powerful, durable and with distinctive metallic "ping" sound when hitting, a string well worth trying.
