Setyana Mapassa is one of the best young talent in Indonesia, she has grabbed 3 titles this year in national GS-U15(2 titles, actually back to back title in Sirnas Jakarta and Sirnas Bandung recently) and GS U-17 level(Axelindo Cilegon Open).

    Profile of Setyana Mapassa

    Left/Right handed : Left handed
    D.O.B : 01 Jan 1995
    Current national ranking : Rank 4(GS U-15)

Notice that she has beaten current Pelatnas WS, Renna Suwarno last year at Tangkas Alfamart Junior Challenge 2010 in 21-16 21-19, also defeated the Sirnas Jakarta GS U-17 winner Dinar Dyah Ayustine 21-19 21-10.

Hopefully in Sirnas Semarang later she will compete in GS U-17.

    Susi Susanti van Manado

    found an article about her,

    11 OCTOBER 2010
Her eyes sharply follow the movement of the shuttle cock . Motion nimble feet. Her left hand hit strong and sharply, sometimes just slowly and tricky. Opponents also fooled. That is the action Setyana Mapasa, 15 years old girl that born in Manado, on the Tangkas badminton court , Greenville, West Jakarta. "If not arrogant, disciplined, and diligent practice, one day she could speak at the international level," said Hendri Saputra, the coach, on Wednesday last week.

Ana, so she was always called, was one of the seeds that her club want to supplied to national level players. "It's one of our top athletes the women's singles who will achieve like Susi Susanti in the past," said Hendri.

Either throw herself into the sport of badminton, at first she followed her father who often played at home in the complex field Kawangkuan, Manado. At that time Setyana still seven years. Then she was hooked. At the age of nine years, she entered the badminton club in her town.

Two years of forging herself at the club, eventually she moved to Tangkas, Jakarta. "That time,It has a championship in Jakarta. At first I only play into Tangkas. Eee, obviously I want to continue to practice here," he said.

Four years in Tangkas, Setyana enjoy the exercises. The left-handed child is desire to leave school for badminton. Achievement from achievement she achieved, from beginner to remaja(GS U-17) category at national level. In fact, last August, in the championship at the international level in Bali, she was "forced" up to the junior class, even she should still at the level of teenagers. The result was not disappointing, through to the semifinals. "Four or five years from now I want to be world champion," said a fan of Chinese players, Lin Dan, in optimistic.

Yes, she play in taruna division in the just concluded Sirnas Semarang, and lost to Anggia Shitta Awanda in early round. I think she need to play more in taruna division, and by the time she get more experience, i think she will start to get good result in taruna division. Let's wait her progress. All the best :)

Setyana Mapassa just cruise to Kejurnas 2011(INA National Championship) semifinal! She beat Dinar 21-17 21-18 in QF. In SF today, she will up against Putri Sekarsaji.

Setyana played few touney this year, only playing 6 tourney in local championship. But she won 3 titles(2 titles from GS U-17 in Sirnas Jakarta and Bandung, 1 titles from GS U-19 in Cilegon Open).

Next year, she should compete more in the GS U-19 level. Setyana should be the candidate for INA WJC and AJC team next year.

    Setyana's result this year :
    • Winner at Sirnas bandung (GS U-17)
    • Winner at Sirnas Jakarta (GS U-17)
    • Winner at Cilegon Open (GS U-19)
    • Runner up at INA National Championship (GS U-19)
There is Florensia Setyana Daniella name in Li Ning Singapore Youth International 2011.. not sure if that name is Setyana Mapasa. If yes, Setyana just become runner up there in GS U-17 division losing to more experience player Malvine Alcala in 20-22 17-21. This year she only participated in 9 tourney.

Maybe she will at pelatnas in short, because she already have called by XD Coach.
