Nowadays the Malaysia badminton is facing downhill as every MAS players (except for Lee Chong Wei and Koo/Tan) is not improving instead of going downhill. Recently Singapore Super Series, BAM sent their players is it purpose to have them gain more experiences or having suicide by being defeated by the very lower ranked players. Even now the players from Japan, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Germany, Russia and even Singapore are improving rapidly as they can even match against stronger players from China, Korea, Denmark and Indonesia... What happened to the Malaysia Players nowadays, the BAM just sending very less players to go tournament meanwhile other countries send many players to the tournaments and look what happened to them... Well, it's about time to consider whether the Malaysia Badminton Era is really going to the end...?! Just imagine when Lee Chong Wei and Koo/Tan have retired or quit from the nasional squad, who else going to succeed them...? You bet...
Koo/tan also never won anythg important after the short period of early dominance. After de other pairs took notice of them, they were finished.
Yes, need to wait and wait and wait.. But we dunno when, just need to wait for the time to come..hopefully very soon
I wonder who is supposed to be blame.. junior level already got problem already. I don't see other country grassroots badminton level got so much problem also.. Darren fails to make team for Asean Schools Championships KUALA LUMPUR: Shuttler D. Darren Isaac of Kuala Lumpur was the surprise omission from the squad for the Asean Schools Championships, which will be held in Singapore from July 3-9. Although the 16-year-old Darren teamed up with Tan Wee Gieen to deliver the gold medal in the boys’ Under-18 doubles event at the national schools (MSSM) meet at the KL Badminton Hall in Cheras last month, only the latter has been picked for the trip to Singapore. Wee Gieen will play with his regular partner Calvin Ong. The duo from Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS) had emerged as runners-up to Low Juan Shen-Jagdish Singh in the 100Plus National Junior Grand Finals last month. The others in the boys’ team are MSSM Under-18 singles champion Tan Kian Meng, Soo Tech Zhi, Lim Chi Wing, Chong Yee Han and the second doubles pair of Mohd Adib Haiqal Nurizwan-Marcel Simon, who have yet to win any junior titles in either the national junior circuit or MSSM. Darren’s omission from the squad has raised some questions on the selection process and Kuala Lumpur Badminton Association (KLBA) secretary S. Rajoo hopes that the selectors will shed some light on the matter. “In terms of results, Darren has done better than the other doubles pair at the MSSM. Darren is a KLBA player and, of course, we want to know why he was not selected,” said Rajoo. Najib Abdul Latif, who is the badminton coordinator at BJSS and involved in the selection of the athletes, would only say: “For now, I would rather not comment. There will be a team meeting next week ... please ask them.” Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) secretary Ng Chin Chai commented that the selection of players for the Asean Schools meet was not under their jurisdiction although all of the players selected were from the BJSS. The schools events are under the purview of the Education Ministry and the badminton event is currently handled by MSSM badminton technical chairman Koh Teck Seng. The selection is done by a panel of coaches under the MSSM banner. “The selection of athletes is done with BAM’s consultation. It was done during the development committee meeting on June 10,” said Chin Chai. “Since the Asean Schools tournament clashes with the Asian Junior Championships (in Lucknow, India, from July 3-9), we told the MSSM representative that they could choose any of our players except for the top two ranked players in BJSS as they will be involved in the Asian Junior meet. They had the final say.” Malaysia are hoping to win at least one gold medal each in both the junior tournaments. n ASEAN SCHOOLS BOYS Singles: Soo Tech Zhi, Lim Chi Wing, Chong Yee Han, Tan Kian Meng. The same can be said before chong wei made huge improvements. At that time there were a few (choong hann, roslin, hafiz, to name some) but they never dominated like chong wei now. Back then even chong wei was struggling.Somehow, all of a sudden, cw improved by leaps and bounds and continued to do so in recent years despite reaching 29. So i really do hope one (or a few) of the junior players do come up with a surprise and take over when cw retires. Strong will to succeed and proper coaching are the two key important basic elements.Fingers crossed.....
agreed...we have alwys been just a better than average badminton country with occasionally producing one good ms and coupla of good mens doubles..... thats it... we could have an era if we want.. but we have to get rid of bam first
since LCW lost to CL for a second time, I think there will be a fast lane for Malaysia Badminton to their downfall...!! If LCW someday get retired, there will be no successor, which mean there will be the end of malaysia's traditional badminton game...
After LCW retires, there will probably be a few MDs who can reach QF like that in SS event... after OG maybe when the big guns are gone they have a chance to go a little further... but besides MD and XD (CPS/GLY) and hopefully WD (still don't know about Vivian/WKW) I don't see much light.
If BAM is a company, it would close shop long time ago n their annual audit report will easily be mistaken for a horror/ disaster movie script.
no.. there is still a glimmer of hope. there are a few of us still holding to that little feather of a hope that someday, someone would finally get a clue and do the right thing. i believe ours is a country with thousands of talents but enough officials to screw them up (its weird . i keep hearing the song 'Imagine' as i write this)
I agree with you. Talent is mostly always found everywhere, I even count Liew Daren talented, but just that he went through a poorer structural training system and doesn't push himself so much like Lee Chong Wei...
indeed betul... i have seen talented youngster 13-14 in tourny but dunno hilang mana after turn 20???
I do sincerely hope MAS will have someone like Chen Long, making a significant breakthrough.... Hopefully we dont have to wait too long. Circumstances dont suggest so, but hopefully....
