Looking for weekly Wed nights double games
Hi,
I live in Burnaby, BC and would like to find/join doubles games for Wed nights. I tried showing up at drop-ins at Killarney Comm Ctr last night (Thu May 1) and BCIT, but they were both full.
So I'm looking for regular Wed nights doubles.
While I'm at it, I'm also looking for a game tonight (Fri May 2), in case you need one player.
I played regularly, growing up in Malaysia. I don't have any formal training, but I think I've passed the beginner stage. Since high-school, I sort of drifted away from badminton for a few years, but am now getting back into it.

Cheers!

Is it a drop-in like Cameron? You sign your name on a board and cross-out when you play?
Is it hard to get a spot to play, or does it get really full?
Whereabouts is this school?
Thanks for the reply!

It's kinda like a drop in. first come first serve. The fee is $3.00 and it starts at 8:00 to 10:00 sometimes later that depends on how many people there is. I don't know the address but is right behind city hall. I think the street is call Deerlake way.

Collingwood Neighbourhood House (near Joyce Skytrain Station) also has badminton on Wednesdays from 8:45 to 10:15. There are four courts and they accept 24 players for the night. Cost is $2.50/person. The skill level there is a mixed bag, but there are almost always a few advanced club players.
I find that as long as you come in no later than 8:30, you can always find youself a spot on the list.
Perhaps I'll see you there next week?

BCIT is very good to play if you go early to sign up plus bring about 1 or 3 friends... it sucks being a loner there.

Don't I know it!
Been there (BCIT) twice as a loner ... Cameron Comm Centre is better (for loners) on Monday nights, as you sign up on the blackboard for courts .... you get to play with 3 others who sign up in your "space", cross off when a court becomes available, then re-sign up with different people when you finish your game.
Another bonus for Mon Cameron is that it's totally badminton ... no basketball on the side! I was getting tired looking out for rogue rolling basketballs coming towards the playing court on Fri (May 2) night.

Deer lake is better. You don't need to bring friends just come by yourself and you always have somebody to play with. If you are interest just pm me. I just found out that the fee is $3.00 each time you drop in. But if you pay in advance the cost is $20.00 for a month. twice a week.

Deer Lake is a PRIVATE badminton club ... I walked in the door and Ken told me that it's by invitation only. But he let me play for $3.00 but if it's too full, I couldn't play and he'd refund the money.
Luckily I knew 3 guys there!
One member told me it was by invitation only. Oh well. I'll check out Collingwood House tomorrow night (Wed).
Badrad, which one were you? Were you wearing a dark blue/purple sweater?

I dropped by late in the evening and spoke with Ken about how busy it was. For some reason some numbskulls implied that Deer Lake is public....
