Yup, you said it already in post #127:
"
To add another condition to the table : Dutch and Belgian singles players in addition have to be amongst the top 16 or top 24 qualifiers respectively or else they are still not allowed to go by their own national Olympic committees ..."
So neither Yuhan or Lianne Tan are going, opening up one more space in both events.
Looks like Koukal is going to OG12 regardless or what Navickas or Must do

Unless the Czech Olympic Committee also has their own standards
I see the unfortunate foursome is also included in Badzine's dummy list

I have done a little bit of analysis. The current points for these 6 WD pairs after the QF of Australian Open are:
1) Cheng Wen Hsing/Chien Yu Chin (TPE): 55529.7 (if they lose to JPN @ INA in SF)
2) Jung Kyung Eun/Kim Ha Na (KOR): 53960
3) Chin Eei Hui/Wong Pei Tty (MAS): 45316.88
4) Valerie Sorokina/Nina Vislova (RUS): 45127
5) Vivian Hoo/Woon Khe Wei (MAS): 44866
6) Jwala Gutta/Ashwini Ponappa (IND): 44497
For now CWS/CYC, CEH/WPT & VS/NV will get the olympic spots.
I think VS/NV will at least reaching the final stages of European Championship. So their olympic points will increase to 47488.66. So they are ahead of 2 MAS & IND pair. The draw of Badminton Asia Championship (BAC) is quite tough for MAS & Indian pairs and I doubt that they will reach the QF stages. So the points will the same as previous weeks.
As for the Korean pair, although they beat Meliana/Greysia & TPE pair in BAC, Tian Qing/Zhao Yunlei will waiting for them in QF stages (I think CHN pair will win). So they still stuck below the TPE pair & not qualify for the olympic yet.
So we'll have to wait for IND SS draw to be released. If Korean pair do not reach at least SF stages in India, they will not qualify for the olympic and two pairs (RUS, 1 MAS @ IND) will qualify.

Probably because both the girls are taller than the men

Thought had crossed my mind but I'm sure it wouldn't be allowed as this would set a precedent for every other sport as well with hard(er) limits than those set by international federations (after all the limits aren't there to save money but to send a competitive team with at least the tiniest hope of silverware or maybe top 8 finishes).
For the Belgians though there are more options than just top 24: 3rd round WC or Super Series (1/8), 2x QF @ GP or 1xQF @ EC. It is my assumption they haven't fulfilled any of the other criteria so far and if either of them then I'd give Lianne more chance but both have as good a draw as they could have hoped for @ EC.Last edited by demolidor; 04-06-2012 at 07:42 AM.

^ If I remember correctly, Tan Yuhan has a fairly easy draw for the first two matches, then plays Ouseph. I reckon Tan Yuhan has a decent chance of overcoming Ouseph but it just depends what form they are in. Ouseph didn't play too well in Finland although he took the title, so it will be interesting to see

Lianne Tan is also entered to the Peru international, so she is obviously desperate for points

I want Nathan Robertson to qualify for the Olympics...can somebody who is very close and up to date with the news within BE be so kind to share what's the latest development in the Olympic selection?
I dont think Nathan will bow out without exercising all his authorities to all his might to get what he wants.....

After some minor digging stumbled upon an interview done in February and apparently somewhere along the line Yuhan has already reached the BOIC (Belgian Olympic & Inter-federal Committee aka NOC) so he will be going. Lianne still had to at the time of the interview ...
Maybe they count Internationals as "GP" as well ...

The Yuhan family is not (yet) listed yet on http://www.roadtolondon.be.
I hope they make it. My guess is that Lianne has a slightly larger chance of going.
Anyway, I'll keep an eye on badmintonvlaanderen.be as they'll probably be on top of things.

That is only because they still have to stay within the BWF qualifying rules, of which the qualifying period ends this month so therefore Yuhan is not officially qualified but he is in solid position and has fulfilled one of the additional BOIC demands (reaching R2 of a Super Series event twice; didn't realize yesterday it was such a low demand so thought their best chance was to be in the top 24 eligible players/cleaned up WR). Lianne on the other hand is also in position according to BWF qualifying rules but has not fulfilled (any one of) the additional BOIC demands. Last chance looks to me to be the European Championships and a quarterfinal result there
