I got my racket stringed recently, the problem is that i didn't noticed that there is one grommet missing from the frame. Would that cause problems? The racket is stringed at 22lbs. Should i restring again or leave it as it is?

    Pic for reference

The one without the grommet is the hole near the "A"

it's the stringer's fault. a responsible stringer will examine and replace bad/missing grommets.

the string will likely break more easily at the kink.

Would the racket break or get damaged? Should i restring as soon as possible?

Hmm...don't ever use that stringer again. You should cut and replace the string as it will cut into the frame.

Go back to the stringer and ask for a refund and go some where else. He/She stinks at stringing.

They steal it from other racquets hoping that the customers wouldn't notice. Hence, the missing grommet from jsevalle's racquet ;) ;)

There is a limit to how many grommets the stringer will replace per racquet. Obviously, s/he wouldn't replace all the grommets on the racquet without charging you for it but if it is just a couple or so, there usually is no charge.

I dont think it will break your racquet ... dont worry ... I have few racquets with missing grommets and I am still using it twice a week for about 1 year and I strung at 23 cross 24 main.

Yes, I think it's not a problem of the string cutting the frame but rather the frame cutting the strings. I had several grommets broken and after I removed them I was still able to get a few month's worth of playing without the strings breaking. Finally the strings just snapped at missing grommet point.

Agree, no need to replace immediately. Just replace the grommet when the string breaks. Be aware of shorter lifespan of string.

Missing gromment is not a good thing to do. As ppl already metioned, the string will surely have "shorter life" and the frame could be dmg. as well.

With lower tension (22 lb as stated above), I don't really think the string will dmg the frame that easily before the string breaks. If u really really curious about the issue, then change the string right there (go back the the stringer, and ask him to re-do it). However, if u don't want to bring up such as case, and don't want to waste this string, then, I don't see too much of a problem in a relatively short period of time (< 3 months)

    For "Joseph", check www.hiquasports.com :

In the "stringer's corner" sections, they sell 4 sizes of gromments in $9.99 / 600 pieces.

    Jsevalle,

BTW, which model is the picture attached. Yonex, Carlton or Pro Kennex. It seems not a Yonex racket.

Long time ago, my classmate used the smallest plastic pipe which designed for model car building as the substitution of the missing one.
