PETALING JAYA: Seasoned campaigners Choong Tan Fook and Lee Wan Wah are looking good to win their first international men's doubles title since making a comeback three months ago.

Yesterday, an impressive Tan Fook-Wan Wah knocked out top seeds and world number five Fu Haifeng-Cai Yun of China 15-12, 15-9 to reach the semi-finals of the US$250,000 China Masters in Beijing yesterday.

It was a sweet revenge for the Malaysians who had lost to the Chinese in the first round of the Singapore Open in June.

Today, the Athens Olympic Games quarter-finalists will take on Japan's top pair of Tadashi Ohtsuka-Keita Masuda in the last four.

The other men's doubles semi-final will be between second seeds Michal Logosz-Robert Mateusiak of Poland and Chinese youngsters Guo Zhengdong-Xie Zhongbo.

Youngsters Gan Teik Chai-Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif failed to make it a double joy for Malaysia when they went down tamely 10-15, 3-15 to Guo-Xie in the quarter-finals yesterday.

It was also the end of the road for Malaysia's fourth ranked Kuan Beng Hong in the men's singles.

The world number 11 went down tamely 7-15, 8-15 to world number five Bao Chunlai of China in the last eight yesterday.
