Hey guys, quick question. Am not that great when it comes to BP/weight in regards to rackets. But lets say I remove the original grip and put on a RKEP Ultimate Grip over it. Would it affect the rackets performance dramatically (as in more head light/head heavy?) Or is just safer to slap on an overgrip on top of the original grip?
I think we've been over this before in previous threads. The hand is not the fulcrum or pivot point, because the hand gets thrown forward during the stroke. So changing the mass on the handle will still affect the swing, although not as much as the same amount on the frame.
Ohhhhhh I see totally misread it haha. Anyone tried both MX80 4U and 3U with thoughts? My 4U was brilliant in singles AND doubles, head heavy and powerful but super fast. Just wondering if I should get a 3U next or just another 4U.
wait, I thought 300+mm BP is pretty normal after you string it? (especially head heavy racket like MX80) check directsports http://www.directsportseshop.co.uk/...ackets/Yonex_Voltric_80_Badminton_Racket.html they put VT80 with string 310 after string, so IMO 300 is ok
Usually strings shift bp by +5mm. And thin overgrip then brings it back to no shift. That website probably just lists the bp with strings and no overgrip, only original grip. That would explain those bp's for mx80 and vt80, as they are around 293 and 305mm respectively unstrung no overgrip.
Kwun, have you posted a full review of the racket yet? I'm in germany on holiday (still found time to play out here on some beautiful courts, but with cheap hire rackets and plastic shuttles LOL) bu still excited to read!
not yet. i have been extremely busy playing badminton... erm... i mean testing the racket.... erm.... i mean enjoying the MX80 for 3 days in a row. so i haven't have time to write it out yet. soon soon.... please bear with me....
I've had experiences with both BS11 and MX80. All I can say is that I found the MX80 to be so much better. With the BS11, I couldn't hit clean shots because it was sort of head heavy, but swung really fast so kept on mis-timing my shots. Also, it's really flexible so wasn't right for me because I think that my swing is too fast. Shuttle was leaving the stringbed before the head actually had the chance to snap back into place and hit the shuttle. The MX80 on the other hand, really stiff so suited me perfectly. Smashes were powerful, drives and defence was lightning fast, defensive lifts were flying to the baseine thanks to the extra weight in the head. It's just as fast in defence as the ns9900 if not faster, but its more head heavy. So in the end, if you have a slow swing speed, then the bs11 will suit you. But if you have a fast swing speed, then the MX80 will be your new weapon.
