The enjoyment of Badminton comes first, the money reward is just a bonus

    Hi xymaerts,

The reward, LCW gets the allowance of RM15,000 a month, is intended to encourage other Malaysian players to work harder... to be better players.

However, I am disappointed that only males can get RM15K, while females can only get about half of it.

Question: Are these financial rewards applying to all other sports, besides Badminton, as well ?

IMHO, good money isn't everything. Other supports for players are also required, such as, good training facilities, enjoyable activity programs, exciting environments, etc..., all play a great part to help players to perform better.

And also, if a player is only encouraged to do well for the money reward but not for himself/herself, then the purpose of self-existence would be lost.

It is hope that when LCW plays in a tournament, he is also enjoying the tournament. Let him show us his fighting spirit, his talents, his skills, his sportsmanship, etc......

And the enjoyment of Badminton comes first, the money reward is just a bonus.

    Cheers... chris@ccc

The incentives given to athletes has it's pro and cons

Pro: It encourages the players to do well and also other players not doing so well.

Con: When the player flops JUST ONCE, the politicians and the media go on and on about wasting money on the players and so on.

    Example: Nicol and Chong Wei.

They have both been consistent players and in my opinion, they deserve the money, they have been winning tournaments for us, they totally deserve it. Sure, they flop once or twice, but then again, no one's perfect. But the important thing is that they get back up again and pick up ,from where they last were.

    It goes like this:

If we catch five swans and all of them have white feather then all swans are white.

... provided they are all swans. Mongs may take a dove as a swan.

That is if you add mongs into the equation. The original statement however cannot be proven true unless you narrow the argument to only include the condition of finding five white swans.

This is getting pretty boring my friend. You and I both know what we are both talking about and it's 3:30 in the morning!

Dont tell me it is getting boring. You're the one who brought up em' swans.
3.30am? Not my problem ... suggest you start a hobby like collecting bottle caps than staying up at 3.30am trolling the net.

I brought up 'em swans in the 'cause and effect' manner - your vitriolic replies (at any time the opportunity arises) caused me to effect a statement to encourage some moderation, be it in style or content. Being 'in your face' is good, but the ones that make impressions aren't the one that are loudest, it's the one that actually makes sense.

Our politicians 'are all idiots' eh? I suppose it's only the best and cleverest cabinet or parliament if it's filled with people you like or think are right, yes? That is realpolitik - you know this. I'd like to call you an idiot for being so full of bile but I decided that I shouldn't try to emulate what I disagree with. To adapt a famous saying - don't argue with somebody who agrees with what you disagree; they will bring you to their level and beat you with experience.

Besides, it's 7 plus pm in the UK - we just won in that fantastic game vs Porto; the Rafa banners & march and goals borders on amazing.

Ohhh ... must have touched a raw nerve there. Cause and effect manner? How so when you are unable to explain the conditions for findings that 5 swans??

And your comments make sense? A example of what moderation is all about? Well, you sure think highly of yourself.

On your ;"I suppose it's only the best and cleverest cabinet or parliament if it's filled with people you like or think are right, yes?" , wait a minute here ... what has the cabinet or parliament gotta do Azalina's comments? And how do you know I dont like Azalina? But since you mentioned politics, I will say this, it will be difficult for one to see the trees through the forest especially when one's head is stucked in the sand.

Firstly it was 3.30am Msian time and now its U.K time and Rafa & Liverpool. What has this gotta do with LCW, Azalina's comments, our debate and all??

Talk about famous sayings .... in my kampong back in Trg, normally someone who acts and thinks that he is smart but in actual fact he is an idiot is called bodoh nyanyok.

Oh dear, this is getting ugly.

Just for the record, we're both fairly educated so I suppose it need not go to the point where insults are thrown about. This is exactly the kind of thing they do in the Parliament that gets on my nerves so I suppose it's up to people like you and I to make sure that it doesn't become a culture by not emulating such things on an international board - even if our neighbours across the Causeway depend on it for entertainment.

Trying to spin it by calling it ugly now?

Back track a little will you? And what is it that they do in Parliament?? You talk about your swans, Rafa, cabinet ministers etc etc. Shall we stay on the subject as thats the least an educated person can do.

The swans were a response to you generalising that if a corrupt office or wrongdoings were found, the whole thing must be rotten (re-read your examples of 'good things'). The same goes with your comment of our politicians 'being at best, idiots'. I find this to be rather unnecessary. Do you really need to talk like that?

And before you brand me a government apologetic, let's be clear that the only fault I have with you here is the need to be so negative about your own country and continuing to harp about it to no end. I shake my head every time you brand everybody you disagree with as idiotic.

So if you do find me at fault for speaking what I have said above, then I sincerely apologise, otherwise stop the freakin' politics and start talking issues. Bicker with me about the 'juicy' stuff at the warung because it's our domestic issue but not here where it doesn't belong.

As for the Rafa bit, you did ask me about 3:30am, so I told you about Porto, yes?

Yes, I stand by my statement that at best, they are idiots. What do you expect from a lot that practiced racialised communitarian politics? In your pm to me, you said that I am enamoured with Singapore. To me, thats ok you can call me that. Its your opinion. I used Singapore as a comparison, and I believe if you want to compare , at least compare with the best out there. To compare us to Lesotho, Uganda, Laos is syiok sendiri ala Malaysia Boleh syndrome la.

Before you assumed that I am going to brand you a government apologetic, suggest you stop making any further assumptions. An educated person will argue his/her case based on facts, right?

What I say about the state of our country isnt it not a fact?? You want me to sweep the facts under the carpet and pretend that we are all great and fine? You want to me to say that our badminton for example is going great guns when we have yet to win either a Olympic gold or a WC?? Or the last time we won that TC was back in 92??

Or you want me to say that our education system is world reknowned when our universities are ranked below 200? Anyway, suggest you re-read my pm to you , slowly this time round.

Funny... and I thought education provided one with some form of awareness.

Stop the freaking politics?? Dude, you are the one who brought up the cabinet and Parliament etc!

And I certainly didnt asked you about 3.30am, you said; "You and I both know what we are both talking about and it's 3:30 in the morning!".

    I give up.

    You win.

Let's have a topic on Chit Chat where you outline the ideas and blueprints on how to turn this doomed, miserable little dumphole of a country into the utopia that is the champion of civility, moral and knowledge.

    I despair, really.

    Azalina sez..

    Hi Jessica,
Azlina aping what Prof Khoo said when he went out of the Malaysian Open. In a way it's true but to come form the sports minister after a commendable final does'nt make sense. Anyways, it's time for Chong Wei to prove his critics wrong and remembers there's no point being second best.

ok.i really dont want to involve.i will ended up feel so bad with myself.

i will ask the last question.the last..what is ur purpose when u are revealing all this in this public forum, international forum, let others know how bad was our country..?what do u gained from this?

its better if u try fix the problem in a better way-get our support - i mean malaysians support and fight for malaysia.for our right.to be a better nation.

u know what,if i this is not 2007,i would look at u as dato' onn jaafar.someone that i respect.but unfortunately.u are different with him.
    same vision but different attitude.

both of u are talking about the same thing.its about attitude.
he fix the problem by stand with us,give us encouragement, give us solutions
but u are attacking us,attacking malaysia in a FORUM.

its good that u realise all those problems (as theres so many pak turut nowadays).

and have u ever read any BC forum ppl from other countries give negative opinions regarding their country's policy openly?have u?

u love debates(i think).deliver an opinion is not a sin.at all.it is ur authorithy.nobody can say anything to againts ur opinions.
but i was really sick reading ur posts.(reading all posts are unavoidable if u are asking me to ignore ur posts)
u have points.and most of them are true.perhaps all of them.

im just asking u not to tell everything about how bad was malaysia.
it looks like u are trying to tell others "hey everyone.. see how bad was my malaysia ".
    no countries are perfect.
if u are in singapore (ur darling country) and u give this kind of criticises to the government,u are done.its their policy and we have to respect that.
for this fact, have u ever be grateful that u are born in malaysia?

i do agree, our government policy is sometimes really annoying.things like pilih kasih, cakap tak serupa bikin ,manja n lembik are habits.
the latest - our football seagames squad lost to myanmar 3-0 and put us at the bottom of he group.we are talking about myanmar-this country is fighting for democracy yet can beat malaysia truly asia.it is unacceptable.yes.
but i have to say, whatever it is,im still supporting malaysia in its next match.

dont bash malaysia in public forum.thats what im asking u to do.
    thats all pemuda.
