the 11th national games of China badminton events will be started at Oct 8, ended at Oct 18, 2009. This is an 11 days long intensive competition. So there will be no Chinese players in the Germany open (Oct 12 - 18). It is also very hard for the Denmark open (started at Oct 19). Even if their names are in the entry list, Chinese players in the final of national games could withdraw at the last minute before Denmark open.
German Open?! I guess it should be Dutch Open GP that will be held on 13 - 18 October 2009? German Open which sponsored by Bitburger is this week tournament (29 September - 04 October 2009). Yeah, it's so close between final day of CHN National Games and DEN SS schedule...
agree with this with retirement ZYW/ZTT, LKW and LHJ did not play WD anymore, unstable performance by CWH/CYC, and no upcoming potential pair(s), I believe Du/Yu will be the little version of Ge Fei/Gu Jun
Well, Hu Bei local pair Wang Xiaoli / Zhao YL just beat Du/Yu twice this year. although Wang/Zhao 2:0 Du/Yu, china national team still not accept Wang/Zhao. Instead, Wang pairing with Ma Jin, and Zhao is pairing with Cheng Shu in the national team.
They beat Du/Yu twice this year??in which events???If Wang XL is paired up with Zhao YL then Ma Jin with CS,then Will MJ/CS becomes as good as MJ/WXL or CS/ZYL??
I read from a Chinese badminton forum sometime ago: The reason why Wang XiaoLi & Zhao YunLei was not paired together was because Li YongBo doesn't want to have a WD pair that is stronger than Du Jing & Yu Yang (who both come from the same province as LYB)...... but it turns out that Du/Yu was beaten several times by Zhang YaWen & Zhao TingTing, most recently at SF stage of 09 world champ....so.............
Back to year of 2007, Zhao YL/Wang XL beat Du/Yu at the national badminton championship(全国羽毛球冠军赛). Then on, June 17, in Liao Yang, the hometown of Du J/Yu Y, HuBei pair Zhao YL/Wang XL defeated Du/Yu at the national badminton tournament (全国羽毛球锦标赛) Then again and again, on October 20, Zhao YL/Wang XL won again in the national Inter City Games (城运会). Both Ma Jin and Cheng Su came from Jiangsu province, but Ma Jin is playing for Shangdong now.
"But no China cheat or fix any game at national games." Man this is not true. One example is the WS event in 2005.
^^Is this what the hubbub was all about??..^^ ..there wasn't much news/coverage on that tourney in BC, but i just found this thread below with one interesting account, see post #49: http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27214&page=3 and this one: http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27501 Is this what ye33 was referring to??..
How can you expect an event which is so important to all the provinces to be without unfairness and cheating... There is already controversy in the just finished ping-pong event.
There are two things totally different. What I meant was no fixing of games. That's the true competition. then you meant was the mistakes by empires and line judges. actually your argument strengthens what I said, because the competitions were so true that players had to fight for every points which got empires involved. If the games had been fixed, there would have no dispute on empires and line judges.
Ah? The competition was so true in 2005 WS? I guess you didn't read Chinese media/BBS around that time? You can also read what Gu Jun said about 2001 WD final. And you may have read stories of match-fixing in other disciplines, say women wrestling. Of course, there is no real "proof" of "under-table" agreements between provinces...

It's good to find Wang Chen to forgive how she was treated before . It's good to find Wang Chen to forgive how she was treated at her previous China National Games. .
How was she treated last time? according to what you view it. I think there were definitely two things bothered Wang Chen: 1) in the semi-finals, against Jiang YJ (also representing JiangSu), there were two disputes about line calls. Wang Chen finally lost that match. 2) in the match determining the 3rd place, Wang Chen withdrew after trailing behind in the 1st game. After that match, Wang Chen complained that Li Yongbo did everything he could on purpose to prevent her winning, therefore she would never compete in China anymore. The key point here was whether or not there were bad line calls, 2nd, whether or not those judgements against her was directed by Li Yong Bo. Li YB said afterwards, that he respected Wang Chen as a professional player over 30 years old, but there was no such thing he was deliberately against her. Li also said, the empire and line judges were very good, players should not look for excuse for their loses. Those judges have better vision than players, even there could be some mistakes, but it should not be the excuse. Even Zhang Ning (Li YB's prodigy) lost in the 1st round, Xie XF also lost in early rounds. It was beyond LYB's control for who can win the gold. Li urged Wang Chen to be more mature. He mentioned actually it was Wang Chen who was so irresponsible to leave Shang Hai badminton club for Australia without any agreement. Anyway, after the national games, Wang Chen attended other tournaments in China, Wang Chen gave her explaination that she would not attend the national games only. Now it's good to see her again on the national games. Even if there were mistreatement, people have to understand that's part of game. When Obama and Shintaro came back from their unsuccessful Olympic bids, they gave the same reason "it's politics", well, both of you are the politicians. Both of you are supposed to be very good in politics. Same thing applies to Wang Chen, don't blame other people playing games, because you are the professional game players.
