I guess and I'm just going to see Taufik Hidayat, though he'll probably get knocked out early on (touchwood) but at least there will be the Men's doubles, Lee Chong Wei and Kenichi Tago to look out for.

Maybe we need a BC forumers Friday night Yumcha somewhere. We can all wear nametags that say "Hi! My name is XXXXXXXXXX but you may know me by my infamous BC Forums handle - MAKLIKE TIER"

Do you have a lot of Victor stuff then? Where do you get it from, been looking for Victor shoes here and they're even harder to get than in the uk...

There's a Victor shop here in Melbourne - Clarendon Street, South Melbourne, to be exact. Lucas Yao runs it, his number is 040!22!23! (replace ! with 1). I still get most of my Victor stuff from RKEP Eric in Taiwan though.

No one has yet replied how to become a line judge and the level of experience required for it yet... Any ideas?

For line judging, you will have needed to attend a line judge training session and attend two tournament practice sessions. The training and practice sessions were held late last year. There is another practice session scheduled in February for those who are missing out on the second practice session. These practice sessions are held during tournaments attended by qualified umpires who will ensure that line judges are calling and indicating correctly.

You could try contacting Anna Lao of ABA http://www.aba08.com.au/institution.asp?flag=para12 but if you haven't already done the training, it might be a bit late now.

Sydney would be bidding for a Super Series tournament soon

    .
From a reliable source (don't ask me from where :):):)), I have been told why our 2012 Australian Open GP Gold will be held in Sydney (not Melbourne). It is because there is more government and corporate sponsorship support in Sydney than in Melbourne.

I have been told that Sydney would be bidding to replace our GP Gold tournament with a Super Series tournament (perhaps in 2 years' time).

Let's hope it would come true... It would make Badminton more popular in Australia.

BCers get to hear about this news first at BadmintonCentral. :D:D:D

BTW, it is heard that Russia is also interested in holding a SS tournament too. BWF will need to put on their thinking caps. :D:D:D

ya man. Darling reminds if of Yumcha. Am a regular there during uni days. ;)

I bet my wgong mates will drive up. ;)

Wonder when NSW BA will grow up. I also had a bad experience with them on player preference. I protested and they just ignore the rules for allowing a 'famous' late player to join in after 2 freakin hours. How unprofessional it is. ;)

Air Asia X is flying to Sydney. Anyone got free tickets mate? lol. ;)

Mayflower or EastOcean for YumCha? ;)

    Volunteers wanted!

    Hi,

NSW Badminton is calling for volunteers to help out at the Australian Badminton Open - you will get the same benefits as line judges except of course you don't do line judging. You get access to the events by being a volunteer. See this link for more information - http://www.ultimatebadminton.com/ABO12/

Basically, you need to be over 16 years of age, be available on 31 March to pick up your Yonex uniform and do the paperwork, familiarise yourself with the site - 2 hrs of your time and you get to watch the events (when you are not on shift) - and get fed during your shift - what more can you want?

    Hope to see you these!

    -John

Hi, you just need to create a login, then you can choose a shift. A shift can be 5-7 hours - you can do as many as you have time for. Volunteers are needed from 30th March to 8th April - just login and see what you can help with.
