Incomplete results, inconsistent and slow reporting of scores, medal tally not updated in sync with results, website lags from time to time. We're talking about events across the board. In fact sometimes I don't actually believe the results Not good Delhi, not good.
Group A: Malaysia 2-0 Australia 2-0 Nigeria 1-1 Isle of Man 0-3 Seychelles 1-2 Group B: Singapore 2-0 New Zealand 2-0 Sri Lanka 1-1 Northern Ireland 0-2 Jamaica 0-2 Group C: England 2-0 Canada 2-0 Mauritius 1-1 Uganda 1-2 falkand Islands 0-3 Group D: India 2-0 Scotland 1-0 Barbados 0-2 Wales 1-0 Kenya 0-2
Not all pool matches are conplete, but it looks like it will be: Malaysia vs New Zealand Singapore vs Australia England vs Scotland India vs Canada
Scotland 5-0 Barbados Scotland 5-0 Wales Scotland 5-0 Kenya Scotland 5-0 India (or am I too hopeful ?)
Anyway...if anyone is actually wondering about yesterdays results, here they are. Wales bt Kenya 5-0 India bt Barbados 5-0 New Zealand bt Sri Lanka 3-2 (Yay!) Scychelles bt Isle of Man 3-2 Australia bt Nigeria 5-0 Jamaica bt Northern Ireland 4-1 Canada bt Mauritius 5-0 Malaysia bt Nigeria 5-0 (ftw!) Uganda bt Falkland Islands 5-0 Barbados bt Kenya 4-1 Scotland bt Wales 5-0 Singapore bt Sri Lanka 5-0 Australia bt Isle of Man 4-1 New Zealand bt Northern Ireland 5-0
Australia beat Nigeria 5-0 and should move on as 2nd in their group. New Zealand scaped by and beat Sri Lanka 3-2 and should move on as 2nd in their group. Canada has a slight chance to upset England with a 3-2 margin. Canada's David Snider could beat Rajiv Ouseph but the coach may opt for Alex Pang which I think has less chance. In WS, Michelle Li will give Elizabeth Cann a hard-fight and could be a potential upset. In WD, Michelle Li/Alex Bruce have a chance at beating England but slight. Scotland and Wales will be the battle for 2nd in their group stage. Ahh, I forgot we still have Anna Rice playing. She will probably get the nod in WS rather then Michelle Li because of her experience and ranking although Michelle Li can beat her. Either way, I think any of them should be able to beat Cann.
Scotland already beat Wales 5-0, so they have secured 2nd, and just need to beat India now, for 1st in the group.
Scotland have a slight chance against India tomorrow: MS: Kieran vs Chetan Anand, Chetan is quite inconsistent, and is yet to face a challenge yet, until tomorrow, Kieran, will be a test for Chetan, (or Kashap) but I reckon that India MS is stronger. WS: Susan vs Saina, again, Scotland have a small chance, when Susan plays well, she can beat just about anyone in the world (remember AE10 vs Lu Lan ?) a very close game there, where Lu Lan edged it in the end, so she has proved that she can play well against the best. MD: Scotland again could win this tie, I don't know much about the MD of IND so not much of a comment WD: Scotland should win this, porviding they play Bankier/Mason combination, they are very strong, just not highly ranked as they don't play too many tournaments. XD: Anything can happen, I presume Scotland will play either Briggs/Bankier or Merilees and someone, not sure yet. So Scotland have a small chance tomorrow.
Very tough for Scotland to win even the WD i think, with Jwala from India against them, though thats not to take anything away from Bankier/Mason, they have proven themselves before against good players. And to beat Saina infront of the home crowd, could be even more difficult! Also, who did AUS drop a game to against isle of man??? and to the kiwi person, yeah nick moved back to perth 2-3 years ago and only just started playing for us again this year.
You should take off those rose tinted glasses. All Scotland has is hope... and that's not a lot of it either. India will demolish Scotland
2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi: Badminton Teams expected at Semi-Finals . My guess; The most likely Teams at the Semi-Finals could be; * Malaysia vs Singapore * England vs India .
Malaysia and Australia will face off tomorrow to decide the group winner. Singapore and New Zealand will also play tommorow to decide the group winner and runner-up.
2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi: Top 4 Badminton Teams . It's how I see it. If I were to rank the top 4 Badminton nations at this 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, I would rank them in this order; 1. Malaysia 2. England 3. India 4. Singapore .
Commonwealth Games: Nehwal leads India to clean sweep in badminton Channel NewsAsia, Singapore 06 October 2010 0306 hrs NEW DELHI: India's new badminton star Saina Nehwal led the home country closer to a Commonwealth Games quarter-final place in the team event with their second clean sweep in succession on Tuesday. Nehwal, the only Indian woman ever to have won a Super Series title, was again far too strong for a part-time opponent as the host nation scored a 5-0 win over Barbados. The 20-year-old world number three won 21-3, 21-6 against Mariama Eastland which meant that Nehwal, who was left with the remainder of the day to rest, practise or train, has now conceded only 24 points in four 21-up games and two matches. "To have complete control of a match, it requires almost seven to eight hours practice a day," said Nehwal. This situation is ideal for the Hyderabad star, who has been able to ease her way comfortably into the Games' special ambience despite having made unpopular remarks about the event's preparation. This has reduced the pressure on her and may also serve her well physically when it comes to potentially harder battles in the individual competition next week when she tries to become the first Indian woman to win a badminton gold. "It may not be that tough but this is a very prestigious tournament in which everyone wants to win," Nehwal said with careful diplomacy. "I am looking forward to us winning a few medals." India, the second seeds, have to play twice on Wednesday to ensure their likely place in the quarter-finals, with Scotland looking best placed to join them. Malaysia's defence of the title carried them into the quarter-finals when they scored their third clean sweep victory of the team event, 5-0 against Nigeria. The champions had so much to spare, as in all their group matches that they were able to progress comfortably without their world number one Lee Chong Wei. Instead the men's singles slot was taken by Muhammad Hafiz Hashim, the former All-England champion, who started in second gear but gradually got well on top in a 21-15, 21-9 win over Joseph Abah. Malaysia's best women's singles player, Wong Mew Chew, an individual silver medallist four years ago in Melbourne, was also given a rest. Her place was taken by Lydia Cheah, a 21-year-old from Kuala Lumpur who was runner-up in the Copenhagen Masters at the end of last year and who won the opening encounter emphatically. Sometimes before tournaments she cuts her hair, she says, as a form of superstition, and Cheah may have done that on this occasion, for she both played and talked a confident match. "I put no pressure on myself, I just try my best," Cheah said after a 21-7, 21-9 win over Hajara Braimah. "In fact I have been training for most of this year, but I am not going to make it harder for myself mentally." Hashim said: "It was really good to win for the team. We really want to win this title again, but I think that England, India and Singapore will all be tough competitors." Malaysia's last group match will be against Australia, who are also certain of a last eight place, while Singapore and New Zealand, in Group B, are virtually in the quarter-finals after three wins each. However England, the third seeds, have still to play twice and need at least one more win to make it. Canada should join them. Mixed Team pool results: Group A Seychelles bt Isle of Man 3-2 Australia bt Nigeria 5-0 Malaysia bt Nigeria 5-0 Australia bt Isle of Man 5-0 Group B New Zealand bt Sri Lanka 3-2 Northern Ireland bt Jamaica 4-1 New Zealand bt Northern Ireland 5-0 Singapore bt Sri Lanka 4-1 Group C Canada bt Mauritius 5-0 Uganda bt Falkland Islands 5-0 Group D India bt Barbados 5-0 Wales bt Kenya 5-0 Barbados bt Kenya 4-1 Scotland bt Wales 5-0 - AFP/de
Officially India is ranked 2nd while England is 3rd. Singapore is unranked I think. Quite a huge promotion for India since the last Games in Melbourne.
