hey guys... any of u noe if ther's any 1st gen Ti-10 still selling? i mean d place or the shop venue and all... thanks.
bro., 1st gen is already history for long time.....no shops will be selling... we can only wait for members selling 2nd hand 1st gen here...
I have seen a 1st Gen Ti10 in HK but going for HK$2500. I have a mint condition 1st Gen Ti10 but didn't sell because I have people who offer to pay the same price as a new 3rd Gen Ti10. They probably think that is a fair price to pay for a old racquet.
Even though the 1st gen was a really good racket, I don't see myself paying the price as its the same as three 3rd gens.
Sure, you pay for what you think it is fair. In your case, you feel that all the 3 generation of Ti10 are the same, so you won't pay a premium. But the buyers who specifically look for the 1st Gen Ti10, I feel they should be prepared to pay a premium for a racquet which is no longer in production. It is supply and demand and for someone to think that a fair value is the selling price of the 3rd Gen Ti10, well..........
sorry for diverting a bit from ti10. Zabee, when did u see tat as10 going at rm580 in perfecr sports? their web showing its rm650 now. u meant after u neg with them?
I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say. I didn't say they were the same. In fact. they're quite different and worth much more than both the first and second generation ti-10. And also, for a racket such as the ti-10 (1st gen), the price is pretty subjective in that there isn't a benchmark to measure how much its worth. However, I am just saying that in my opinion, its not worth buying such a racket. I am sure most if not all of us would jump all over the first gen if the price is still around the price of a 3rd gen.
I actually wonder (humbly speaking) if those who are currently die-hard trying to collect the Ti-10 1st gen have actually played with the racquet before. There is a very fine line which divides between those who "collect to play" compared to those who "collect to collect". IMHO not many people can actually adjust to the stiffness and that "magnum recoil" of the Ti-10 1st gen.
pls don't swap yours with a 3rd generation. seen at least 4 broken in minor (in one really really light) clashes. but they were strung in at high tension. last 'accident' was last week. wonder 2nd generation doing better.
Hard to say, lots of users in HK and I've seen them clash and I haven't seen them break yet (perhaps the difference in string tension?). Same with the second gen but overall, the 1st gen is the most durable for sure.
I was just wondering, why does the 2U Ti-10 1st gen worth a lot more money than the 3U version especially for collection purposes?
@Blitzzards 2U version of Ti.10 is quite rare; provided 2nd gen and 1st gen of Ti.10 which are quite rare nowadays, so the price of 2U version of this respective generation is increasing as well.. Yonex produces smaller number of 2U version as compared to its brother, 3U. For example: In producing 50 pieces 3U rackets, YY will only produce 1 piece of 2U racket. so the ratio is like 1 : 50. 2U racket is said to be more powerful compared to the 3U. more solid build, due to denser material incorporated in it.
Thanks for the information, Licin. I never knew this fact actually existed. As an owner of two 2U 1st gen Ti-10s what I can say about the racquet is that it probably packs slightly more power than the other racquets but the reason for that IMHO is due to the very stiff overall feel of the racquet. There is also a "magnum recoil" which I stated above that comes from the impact of smashes with the racquet. Although the most significant thing I want to point out in regards to the racquet's performance is that the 2U version does feel very hard and stiff on impact and with the 90g plus weight it may not be the best racquet to actually use.
