Malaysia have no representation in the finals of the Vietnam Grand prix tournament. This is not a SS tournament and yet the Malaysian players did not rise to the occassion. What's wrong? Meanwhile Singapore have a MD pair and WS player reaching the final and they may even win.
If you look at the positive side, Malaysian players did some commendable feats in this tournament. Goh/Lim beat the 3rd seed, while Mak/Ong beat Noriyasu/Hirokazu (Koo/Tan's bogeymen).
Well finally our two WD girls prevailed over their tough Korean opponents thus presenting SIN with representatives in three finals. But I'm terribly disappointed with our MS players, especially Derek Wong, who were knocked out in the early rounds. DW has been rather inconsistent and this is bad.

Oh well it wasn't meant to be :crying:. For HHY to be participating in a tournament is a rarity in itself so to reach the SF is quite an achievement.
MD FINAL Danny Bawa Chrisnanta/Chayut Triyachart vs Angga Pratama/Ryan Agung Saputro [5] - despite the low ranking, the SIN pair is getting increasingly dangerous and beat Rendy/Afiat in straight-sets in the QF. Angga/Ryan cannot afford to underestimate their opponent and hopefully they can deliver their first title as a pair! WD FINAL Nitya Krishinda Maheswari/Anneke Feinya Agustine [5] vs Yao Lei/Shinta Mulia Sari [2] - ditto for Nitya/Anneke. Although they have a 1-0 record, they need to be careful and play like yesterday's impressive victory over the TPE pair! INA has been craving for a WD title for such a looongggg time!
Hopefully, INA will capture 2 titles here, better than last year Only MS which stage top-two seed in finale, all seeded players in WS have tumbled.
2011 Vietnam Open GP: INA won 2 titles . So as we thought... INA won 2 titles !!!. Well Done to both the No.5 seeds; * WD: Anneke Feinya Agustin/Nitya Krishinda Maheswari [5] and * XD: Angga Pratama/Ryan Agung Saputra [5] .
Exactly, INA grabs 2 titles here meanwhile RUS, SIN and the host VIE sharing 1 title each through XD, WS and MS respectively, congrats ts.com updated for final results : http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...7F4E4E-4EB6-4A33-8655-78FC3FC91D5E&d=20110828
Yayy...just open this forum and found good news...Congratulation for Anggs/Rian and Nitya/Anneke for their titles. I hope they can be good back up pairs for Bona/Ahsan and Greys/Mel....
Indeed, Angga Pratama/Ryan Agung Saputro fulfill the expectation of winning their first international GP title this year. This bodes well for their partnership and surely Koh Herry IP will be delighted and even be more confident of their prospect ahead. They will enter the top 20 ranking but of course, points from the Bitburger Open & Japan SS 2010 will be deducted. So, they need to progress to R16 in the China Masters & Japan SS 2011 to maintain a top 20 ranking by the end of Sep! As for Nitya Krishinda Maheswari/Anneke Feinya Agustine, they also did well in winning their first GP title since being paired together early this year. With points from winning the Vietnam Open GP this week and 3 more events (Chinese-Taipei & INA GPG+Japan SS), entering the top 25 shouldn't be a problem.
Indonesia did well to win 2 titles in the MD and WD matches. The Singapore WD pair lost by a whisker and their MD pair did not do badly either as they stretched the INA pair to 3 games 12-21, 21-16, 19-21. FMT was just too good for KI of Japan beating her in 3 games. Malaysia was the big disappointment of the tournament with no representation at all in the finals.
