Nah, I think KJ is not very deceptive except the fact that he has a super strong wrist to return many shots with a weird stroke. :p

For Chen Hong and Xia, I can't really recall much from them.

Lin Dan is power and endurance... hes a machine
now Peter Gade can pull off any deceptive shot on any player... and now that hes older and has much more experience and doesnt have as much endurance now.. he relies a lot on the accuracy of his shots and returns plus any deceptive opportunities.

well in terms of present day Chinese players I'd agree with xXazn romeoXx, Chen Hong is one of the most deceptive. He commonly does 'trick' shots at the net. But Zhao Jianhua in the past was amazing.

Hendrawan & Peter Gade definitely the trick master....especially on the net play....but i reckon Hendrawan is more deceptive than Gade, always entertaining and stylish.

I was going to say, I've not seen anything of hendrawan....the way everyone goes on about him I would love to watch him. Anyone got anything to download of his (youtube is always sooo bad).

Ahh, then you have missed a lot. The masterclass display between Gade and Hendrawan at their peak in the Thomas Cup 2000 semis was one of the best I ever saw. Gade won that time, but Hendrawan was far from disgraced. His display fuelled the fire into his teammates.

With fire, the INA squad is unstoppable.

i vaguely remember watching hendrawan vs gade. but for the life of me, i can't remember the sheer skills of these two players during their peak. i, too, would love to see those in action again. maybe badminton torrents will include the matches that involved those two. :D

Gade, in his pre-injury days was spectacular from what i remember (which is blurry :p) but i can't recall any crazy tricks or anything from Hendrawan...Jonassen's trick shots look really exaggerated IMO;), but Gade/Taufik/Chen Hong's are ALL smooth and fluid :D;)

Yup, Gade was like a power packed Asian player ala Lin Dan, only with better footwork. :D Hendrawan does great deception, not crazy tricks. I would rate Sigit and Zhao Jianhua's tricks as crazy ..... :)

Sorry, no videos then, heck, not even this forum existed then.

If you've seen Hendrawan in deceptive action, it'd be very difficult to vote for anyone else ;)

    LOL... that's a good one.

It's tricky because most of the time, you would expect a top pro to be able to serve a long serve that actually land "in" the court.:p

go 2 youtube search for Hendrawan....lotta of his videos during the 2000 olympics...semi & final

also, forgot to mention.....XXZ is pretty deceptive as well, especially his post-olympics(2000) era.....but i reckon his style pretty much the same as Chen Hong.
